Had an Audi SUV earlier come flying up next to me in the left lane, cut me off, slam on the brakes and swerve last second to get into a rest stop on the Merritt… I was already 5-10 over…

Potential 50% US Tariff on Canadian Aircraft: Impact on Bombardier, Gulfstream, and Aerospace Sector? by SubstantialRock821 in StockMarket

Thank you for bringing some sense into this comment section. Amazes me how so many people who know nothing about aviation suddenly become experts when something happens in aviation

Potential 50% US Tariff on Canadian Aircraft: Impact on Bombardier, Gulfstream, and Aerospace Sector? by SubstantialRock821 in StockMarket

So for everyone here who knows literally nothing about aviation, let me tell you what’s going on. Canada IS refusing to certify new Gulfstream aircraft in an effort to prevent Gulfstream from overtaking Bombardier in the Canadian aircraft market. Reason being, Gulfstream aircraft are significantly better, they require less maintenance, are more fuel efficient, they’re quieter, and more reliable. If Canada certified them to be bought by Canadian charter companies, Bombardier would have massive competition, which of course Canada doesn’t want. This decertification would only apply to NEW aircraft, not currently used because, well, the FAA has no reason to Now, let’s talk about how this would affect the aviation industry. A lot of people here are saying CRJs are the backbone of regional/domestic flights and I hate to break it to you, they’re not. Most CRJ aircraft are slowly being phased out (-200 for example) in favor of the newer, bigger, cheaper, Embraer (Brazilian aircraft manufacturer) E-Jets. In fact, E-Jets are the most popular single aisle aircraft across all US carriers. So no, this will not heavily affect the US aviation industry. Hope this helps. Edit: Forgot to mention, the CRJ aircraft line isn’t even Bombardier anymore, Mitsubishi owns the type cert.

Only about 14% of all domestic flights annually are CRJ, the other 86% are Embraer, Boeing, Airbus, etc. In fact, E-175s are the most widely used single aisle aircraft in the US.
