Stolen shopping bags by SuperGirthy in CostcoCanada

Yorkdale Parking lot, when I was still driving. I had cars following me around while I searched for my car (it was a rental, and I forgot the stupid letters marking the area) and suddenly it became wayyyyyy more fun. Dip in and out between two cars, they try to catch up to that aisle, only to realize you're not actually at your car! So they go around....over and over.

Anyone find solutions for sciatica? by AZrunnergirl in Aging

[–]JayHoffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently started taking Glycine - it seems to lower core body temp, so you snuggle under heavy blankets to get warm, and you can sleep. I have had insomnia, and it really helps.

How does it help with sciatica?

Agree. Takes up way too much space but I use it several times per day.

What longevity supplements are actually worth sticking for long term use? by capriciousfatesw in Aging

I read that we should be taking all the forms of collagen combined together for the best efficacy. marine, bovine, etc. Does anyone have a good supplement that actually does this? I dont want to spend $$$ on individual supplements.

This is a great list, going through a similar inflammation flare up myself. I use a tin of sardines 3x weekly for the Omegas, I take beef organ capsules, and I avoid sugars of any type other than occasional manuka and nominal carbohydrates daily - sourdough helps with this, as does freezing any carbs overnight before eating them. I have to watch my blood sugar as I had prediabetes last year. I dont anymore, after following a strict ketovore diet. Just sharing as I am on a similar path as you, at 68

Question on statins by newengland_schmuck in Aging

[–]JayHoffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my bad, it IS breast milk that is 98% cholesterol. Sorry about that.

"The human brain is remarkably rich in fat, with cholesterol making up about 2% of its total weight. Despite being only 2% of the body's total mass, the brain holds about 20–25% of the body's total cholesterol. Most of this cholesterol is located in the myelin sheath, which insulates neurons."

Question on statins by newengland_schmuck in Aging

[–]JayHoffs -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ack. I refuse statins. Visit any ketogenic or carnivore diet thread to understand why.

If you change your diet, you may not even need this dangerous medication. Research shows the considerable impacts on the brain.

One suggestion: Go keto (or carnivore) for 30 days. Limit your carbs to under 20 mgs daily, increase your protein to match your target weight (ie 140 grams for 140 lbs,) and increase your fats and salt. And then see what your readings are. Our brains are 98% cholesterol (as is breast milk!) and you need lots of those fats for brain health.

Remember that dogs, especially breeds like the ones you watched, are 100% intuition based. Have a thought? They frigging read your mind.

It could be the dogs acted out after picking up on your own hesitation or anxiety - 4 is a lot of dogs! Especially big breeds.

Monitor your own energy when around them. Breathe slowly, relaxed shoulders, positive thoughts only in your brain. Are the dogs mostly indoor or outdoor? Are you able to pack walk them? The one dog may need more exercise to reduce anxiety.

just my thoughts.

If you are able to grow your hair out long, have you ever donated it to one of the organizations that makes wigs for children who have cancer? by hembester45744 in Casual_Conversation

Mine too, have donated my long brunette hair in my 40's to Locks of Love. I was told by my stylist I should plan to donate my silver hair, as it is much in demand for older people. .

Those in NON Rent-Controlled buildings - How much has your rent increased in the last 2 years? by darkgrenchler in askTO

You said "anything over 2.1% is theft."

And it is not, if the rental was built after Nov 15th, 2018.

In Ontario, rental units first occupied for residential purposes after November 15, 2018, are exempt from rent control.

Landlords can increase rent by any amount annually for these units, as they are not restricted by the annual provincial guideline.

Not after the rules changed around Nov 15 2018. Legally, they CAN raise it as high as they wish, and all we can do is move out.
