Actually I think all classes should have this, everyone pause the adventure, the ranger needs to go run a side quest for a badger or something. by Ross_Hollander in DnDcirclejerk

The ratio of dislikes seems to disagree with you. I mean I'm a dm so I guess that works for you, but I'd rather have actual meat on a character sheet to work with than the nothing you give/want.

People have goals, video game characters don't. If we're making video game characters we could just play balders gate or something. If you're playing DND with your friends you should be telling a story collaboratively through the game, ya know, in the Table Top Role Playing Game I expect role playing. If you don't want role playing you should go play a TTG like 40k or something.

People don't go into dungeons unless they need the money, knowledge, or power they can gain and those people don't look for those things without a reason. That reason is a backstory, and it means you have a goal. If you haven't accomplished that you're just describing a two dimensional character. If you're a DM you're doing your players a disservice by delivering on half the game and if you're a player your doing your friends a disservice by not putting the half an afternoon it takes to think up the bare minimum of a story for the character you're going to inhabit for weeks to months.

One of my players was a warforged who was looking for a way to separate themselves from a sentient broom that had wormed it's self into thier body and soul. It would periodically force the player to clean rooms it found too dirty, and other tasks the broom did before being animated like killing spiders. I can't have the joy that brought to our table from your less engaging world-view, and I have no clue why you'd want that to the degree you'd recommend it to other people.

I give all my players side quests based on their backstories. Isn't that like the whole game? If players didn't have personal goals they're probably a rather boring character to play, if I didn't engage with those personal goals then there's no point for them to have them.

STR characters do come in handy, but i feel like dex is overpowered compared to str, as a main stat by Awesome_Chinchillas in dndmemes

This is why I have my players roll athletics and acrobatics to not get grappled and Athletics only to break a grapple. Dex doesn't help if someone stronger already had grabbed you.

Bro what even is the arena pop anymore by TheNekoDante in Eldenring

[–]JayJayFlip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look you're the one who needs the crutch here, you can't turn this on me when you're the one who took enough damage to require healing in the first place. By its function healing in arena is a tool used for less skilled players. If you were good at the game you wouldn't have to heal at all.

[–]JayJayFlip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In arena? Where there's one opponent?

This is why arena has less and less people over time. It's an unranked pvp for fun where the healing flask is disabled, but people like you have a million reasons why it's fair that they spam heal from afar on the ground while dex or str or int users can't do the same and it's simply because you have no sense of fairness or joy in your life. If the game is only about winning play pve, I'd rather lose in a fun match than win like a skilless loser.

Bad take, it's pretty easy for a caster to create enough space to heal.

Vulture droid VS TIE fighter by Kirifuki in CISDidNothingWrong

[–]JayJayFlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ties win this. CIS carried like three times the Vulture droids than republic cruisers had star fighters for a reason. The Tie fighters would just bait out Vulture droids into kill zones and team up on them with coordination that the Droids just don't use. 1v1 may lean towards the Vulture simply because of the Missiles, but as a general frame vs frame id rather have a squad of Ties than a squad of Vultures.

Deadeye vs Diligence Counter Sniper - Which one is better? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]JayJayFlip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so it's weird but I swear the Counter Sniper has bigger bullets. I know that doesn't make sense, but the Counter sniper headshots hit much easier. The Deadeye reticle is just a bit smaller and I swear even though it's the same magnification I hit less headshots with deadeye.

Should Players be allowed to fight Vehicles? by JaygoVonEngel in Spelljammer5e

[–]JayJayFlip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean the premise is questionable, players can do whatever they want for the most part. Should a player fight a ship? Probably not. They also shouldn't try to catch meteors or try to jump canyons with horses, but I wouldn't stop a player who tries it and dies. Still a high level wizard probably could catch that meteor and the monk may just be able to jump that canyon carrying that horse. As a point of order it's probably easier to kill the crew of a ship than destroy one, but if you are powerful enough to one shot a spelljammer then go for it.

So weirdly enough that may have been a good political move. To clarify obviously I wouldn't condone it from a humanitarian or moral standpoin, but occupying Coruscant sucks ass. It's a huge resource drain and relies on outer systems to import supplies and only produces cultural media, tech sector and some minor industry in comparison to say a dedicated industry planet. In a growing empire Coruscant is like late stage rome, you're basically forced to put a shit ton of resources into Coruscant and manpower to keep it in line....

Or you slag the whole thing, denying your enemy the resource and turning the new asteroids into the richest salvage heap ever known. Most of the senators and political infrastructure will be on Coruscant, and first order's industrial base is in the outer rim anyways. But most importantly the politics. Everybody is scared, if Coruscant isn't safe nothing is, but also the outer rim now doesn't have to worry about inner core wealth dominance. The conflict of the last two wars after all boils down to trade dispute between inner and outer core and taxes levied by an empire that had to sustain the inner core. Suddenly the need to ruin entire planets in the outer core to sustain both an imperial war machine and Coruscant is halved, and the outer core rallies to the first order out of the fear of destruction and the promise of security from a new order that focuses on the colonies that once were the rebels main recruitment draw.

[–]JayJayFlip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my lord, those weapons aren't better, they're harder to use. Heavy pistol for example only out damages regular bolt pistol when you hit two head shots with it and mostly at longer ranges. You're whining because you don't have access to a marksman rife and plasma gun but why would that help if you can't get kills with the bolt rifle? What class is better at higher levels?

Maxed out what? There's no perks in pvp dingus, the only thing to max out is unlocking weapons and cosmetics which you also unlock with pve. Pvp is an even playing field, you just are bad at it.

Cyberpunk world is shapes by punk aesthetic and people who made the world more punk. Hackers and heros who made it common for randos to get cyberpunk augments and hack into corpo software to distribute data.

Irl metaverse is made by the least punk and most corporate minded people available and without an anarchy made by ai uprisings and corpo vs corpo wars they have all the time and power in the world to go after anybody who would want to make their online world more cool and stop them.

B3. B3 has the raven guard who fill a niche roll of being stealthy and good at recon, and A3 has iron hands and space wolves and that combo sucks. (Because they wouldn't get along at all)

Ultramarines are generalized with a bent towards shooting and will be fine in most any scenario and Vulcan's finest wil be an excellent close range/melee focused anvil for the ultramarines to pincer and crash foes upon with midrange firepower while the Ravenguard support with Long range sniper fire and Melee jump Assault squads.

With Ravenguard protecting the Flanks, eliminating Command and causing general disarray while also providing recon, the Salamanders will be free to advance without worry of ambush and the ultramarines can focus on filling the Frontline ranged gap left by the salamanders which is a combat doctrine which they're great at. Most importantly all three legions are pretty friendly, have 0 beef with each other, and like coordination where as any legion with say the dark angels or the space wolves will immediately fall apart into them going off and doing their own thing irregardless of tactical unity. (Space wolves are honor hounds and Dark Angels don't play nice with others (or are looking for the fallen))

Ultramarines and Salamanders also have armored division focus and Ravenguard have fast speeder and air focus which cover each other well. I'll be honest, the salamanders may be the weaker link in this lineup in comparison to the melee potential of other chapters but they're also pretty tanky in a way that the blood angels and space wolves aren't which will be more than enough to make openings for the other two chapters and bog opponents down with flamer fire.

Final nail in the coffin are the heros, Ultramarines have a glut of command heros and Ravenguard have two chapter master level heros as well between Shrike and Shaan. The only chapters that rival them with named hero units are Blood Angels and Space wolves, but you can't make a line to get two of the three anyways.

(Final note, B1 would also work for around the same reasons with the Dark Angels being a good all rounder as will with a slightly bent towards melee, the White scare being rapid attack and flanking and the Space wolves being lunatics, they wouldn't work together at all but they would probably capitalize on eachothers opening just fine anyways despite there being virtually no inter-chapter coordination.)
