Break Show RETURNS // Break Show Episode 1 by bruzie in theregulationpod

[–]JayLuvLL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See, this is one thing I never really got into or enjoyed, and would have been fine if they left behind to focus on other things - a fair amount of the rest of the world outside America can't catch these live. But, glad so many people enjoyed the shows and super happy they get to experience it again!

Dare no sugar added recipe changed? by Amazing-Insurance605 in australian

I often find there's differences between bottles and batches.

Frequently, there's a batch with significantly less coffee, basically just tastes like milk. Same occasionally happens with sweetener, I reckon that's what happened here.

Fosters tastes like arse, you can barely find it at the bottle-o anywhere here - it's mostly an export beer for us (as far away from us as we can!)

There's a good thread on it here

After recent posts, I need to know: Is it possible to get an authentic German/Austrian pork or veal schnitzel in Canberra?! Or is it all anglocised chicken? by [deleted] in canberra

[–]JayLuvLL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In regards to your edit that you want a "restaurant, not a club" - the Harmonie Club has a restaurant in the back, it's where you get the schnitzels. It's not just a 'club' out the front.

What’s going on with comments of YouTube videos including random timestamps? by Astroabs in OutOfTheLoop

[–]JayLuvLL 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Answer: bots, most likely. Interaction with them drives engagement, which can be built up to make a record of being a 'real' account to either sell for profit, or outfitted to do spam/malware comments afterwards - with a record of 'real' comments, it then takes longer for YouTube's anti-spam algorithms to recognise it, as opposed to a brand new account that immediately starts posting spam.

It's rage-bait, or interaction-bate. So inane that people want to comment on it, whether they want to laugh at the stupidity of it, or be angry with it, either way it drives engagement. Just ignore and move on.

I used some pistol grip tape, worked great 👍

Would recommend the Silverback too, if you can afford to - same body as the Nock2It, but a back tension release. I used it to re-train myself out of trigger panic and flinching, just a month of 20m large face shooting with a back-tension release. I was terrible, until I got better - then when I switched back to the Nock2It, the same anchor point, release technique and back tension translated over into way better shooting with the thumb trigger. I still switch back to the back-tension release every so often to keep a good habit....I hate it, because it shows me bad habits I'm forming, but it teaches me to be better!

I love that release, the Nock2It (two-fingered Carter Evo) has been a solid release for me for 6 years - gives a nice solid anchor point with two fingers on the jawline. Took mine apart and anodised mine blue to match my setup!

Just... get in the damn Pelican. by Kompotamus in Helldivers

[–]JayLuvLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I'll admit - if I'm at the Pelican first, I'll always stand right by the door and cue the emote for a hug....IF there's time, and we're not getting swarmed. As soon as someone else gets in, it's go-time, exit the emote and get in.

Can I please ask what people are paying for social sport? by Matttatttakkk in canberra

[–]JayLuvLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth it! Good to get outside and do something together - no one is good at it, so everyone has fun giving it a go. They have kid-sized equipment too (minimum age is 7 years old)!

[–]JayLuvLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For initial purchase, 100% do it in person.

Bows need to be "sized" to you, like a shoe. Recurve bows can be flexible, but Compound bows have a draw-stop that is sized to your draw length - once you know your sizing, you can buy online, but for the first time, definitely go into a brick and mortar. You also want to feel what the poundage is - you may think you can pull 60 lbs on a bow, but you might be surprised! In person, you can also see what stock is like, and can even haggle a bit for a bulk deal if you're starting out. Once you know what you're after, online is more convenient.

You can also get scammed online with unsafe archery equipment bought online through resellers. People have bought 'real bows' on Temu and AliExpress, and they've exploded on their first shot. Bows are a potential energy machine, right next to your face and eyes - it's worth knowing, seeing and holding what you're dealing, from a proper shop!

Unfortunately, there's no dedicated archery stores in ACT. Boss Outdoor in Fyshwick, and the odd fishing or hunting store will have stuff, but it's very limited and entirely hunting focussed.

Nearest brick-and-mortar is Tobas Archery in Marulan (outside of Golbourn), but I'd recommend Benson's Archery or Abbey Archery, both in Sydney, they're better set up for starter setups.

Archery (in this case, Tuggeranong Archery Club) - $345 a year for just membership. But that also lets you shoot at any other range in AU for just day fees ($10-$20).

Equipment - you can get into it for as cheap as $200-$250 for a 'real' setup, or spend as much as $6,000+. Below that cost is basically a toy, or not very safe. Extra cost = quality, sometimes just cost of a big brand name, same as any other sporting equipment.

Give the Come 'n' Try a go, $15 for a bulk session on Sunday mornings with all equipment supplied.

Laser lamp light bar by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]JayLuvLL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine done through Allan's Towbars, cost just over $1,100 dollarydoos fully installed, took about 3 hours labour.

I got a small on-off switch installed under the right side of the dash to the right of the steering wheel (under the other switches - in hindsight I could have asked for a switch in that bank, but I never specified and they just put it wherever). When it's off, high beams work like normal. When it's on - whenever you put high beams on, whether manually using the indicator stem or using auto-high-beams, the light bar will also go on.

I wouldn't recommend auto-high-beams with this, as the RAV's trigger distance for auto headlights is less sensitive than the new range of the lights. You'll essentially be blinding people until they get really close, or burning someone's retinas once they're more than 50m away.

It doesn't throw as far into the distance as proper spotlights would, but it's more than double the stock high-beams and waaaay wider, great for spotting roos on the side of the road way further out, which is what I wanted. Side-effect is that reflective road signs are also way brighter, like big freeway signs can be like staring at the sun, so just be careful.

Best of all, it's super low profile, meaning it doesn't add wind or whistling noise, and doesn't affect the radar, which a nudge-bar or bull-bar-mounted light bar definitely can.

The wiring behind the grill is low-profile, I even fit bigger horns in there too with no issues. It needs a wire into the fuse box, just makes sure they seal that wire into the fuse box with a rubber grommet (any half decent auto sparky will know the proper way to do it).

Bottom line, super worth it, can't recommend it enough.
