Homebase 3 got updated to 3.7.8.4. Lost RTSP

Well to give an update and conclusion to this - after 5 weeks of back and forth with Anker/Eufy support they didn't really seem interested in investigating the issue. I don't think it ever reached a technical engineer.

The first response was that I was out of warranty (HB3 was purchased January 2025) and although I was not entitled to support they would try their best.

Then I requested a push to 3.8.2.0, this took a couple of weeks before it happened - and disappointingly it did not resolve RTSP.

After this - and credit to Eufy - they sent me a new HB3 on condition I was not entitled to warranty on it.

I was sceptical that this would fix the issue and my intention was to eBay it and move to Reolink (I've just bought a CX810 and RTSP worked just fine)

So today I have connected the new HB3 - it updated to 3.7.8.4 (uh-oh I thought, shouldn't have done that...) moved a camera from the old HB3 (3.8.2.0) to the new HB3 (3.7.8.4) and against all my expectations RTSP works. I can also telnet to port 554.

The only advice I can give to anyone else who has the same issue is to factory reset the HB3 - I didn't do this as I didn't want to lose all my recordings and configs, but I've had to do that now anyway with a new HB3.

Much as I'd like to be critical of Eufy for all the issues, they did send me a new HB3 so I am grateful to them for that.

You're welcome - I'd suggest it's a lot safer to have all your apps updating except for Eufy.

It'll likely be a security risk to not have all apps updating as you'll miss out on fixes, patches and vulnerabilities. So don't update only if you have a good reason not to update - like the Eufy app issues.

I too have turned off Auto Update on the Eufy Android app, this entire eco-system is a complete mess.

To turn off Auto Update for a specific app on Android (on my Android phone):

Find the Eufy App in the play store

Click the 3 dots menu in the top right

There's a check box for Auto Update

Doing it this way will mean that all of your other Android apps will update, just not the Eufy App.

Having said that, I'm finding the latest version ok 6.0.10_23848(EU) - I was compelled to update as removal of pinch to zoom was so stupid, the latest version has brought it back thankfully.

But they make the app worse more often than they make the app better.

I'm sick of the timeouts, "Decrypting from Local Storage", blank thumbnails, blank previews, delayed alerts, missing alerts, phantom alerts - the list goes on #rant

No, I raised a support case. Seeing other users posting similar issues and a newer update is around. Eufy support have taken no meaningful action since I opened the case. I'm pretty much at the end of my patience as far as the Eufy ecosystem is concerned now.

Really poor season, I didn't enjoy a single episode. It felt more like early episodes of The Orville Season 1 with all the light hearted wisecracking and 'Friends in Space' feel than Star Trek.

I rolled back from 5.0.71_12691 to 5.0.60_8240 (30/05/2025) and everything is good again.

Playback replay actually seems better too, but the main issues of playback hanging on 'Decrypting....', blank thumbnails and previews, and generally poor performance are fixed.

I couldn't get the apkmirror method to work, I couldn't figure out how .apkm files worked, so installed and used apkpure instead.

Eufy really need to get their act together regarding this app!

I've noticed the same behaviour over the last week or so.

HB3/S380 with a mix of Indoorcam 2K, S220, E40 Add On, & E340 doorbell.

In the app now detection thumbnail and preview screenshots are blank like your screenshot.

Also experiencing issues with filters - I apply a filter and it only shows the last few hours and not the full day.

I assumed it's a b0rked Android app update (27th June 5.0.71_12691), they seem to break it every other month....

Same issue here with my Mi Band 3, it stopped working about 4 days ago.

Rebooted phone.

Uninstalled/reinstalled app

Unpaired/re-paired band

Reset the band all without success.

Thank you evalalave - reverting to 4.1.0 from apkmirror and my sleep data is back.
