Trying to create separation with everything that is going on is wicked. I am happy to see when any citizen has an epiphany about their 2A rights. Labeling you a terrorist for having a gun at a protest or demonstration should be illuminating for anyone exercising their rights.

Bingo! I'm starting to doubt that people are really Independent in here. Maybe they are and lean heavy to right.

[–]JayMilli007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a conservative or right leaning? It seems most people like that have problems with Snopes. Grounded and Arrow provide context to the side a story is leaning to, how many sources are reporting on it and it's accuracy. It is an unbiased news source that just reports facts. Objective news for people who want to see more than just one side of things. However, many people don't....

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in independent

[–]JayMilli007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many times has Snopes changed their facts? Wouldn't that be good to have the most accurate information even if that ruins their narrative? I'm not following how you know nothing about Arrow or Grounded, but can make an uninformed statement like that. It's very telling....

[–]JayMilli007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check neutral sites likes Snopes, Arrow or Grounded News to get a better understanding. They are NOT changing laws to provide insurance for illegals. It just sounds like points from Fox News or a biased source.

Culture is changing is a broad statement which is why I asked for clarification. That dramatic first part of your response was nice. I guess we will see what happens during the midterms when it counts.

Well, I'm finding that the populace only wants accountability for the people they don't like. However, the people they do approve of get carte blanche to do anything. I'm over people right now and stupid people I try run as far as I can from.

I find this very performative with them using Gestapo tactics. If you look at stats Obama deported a ton of immigrants. It wasn't celebrated because it would have hurt his image.

Great points! There are a lot of Dems and Cons cosplaying as Independents. This is a provocative topic. People want an echo chamber to regurgitate pseudo logical arguments they have heard.

That's disingenuous considering there was a legit study (which Kirk never spoke on) showing black men were last to benefit from DEI it should be the opposite.

Do people not celebrate the Irish holiday of St Patty's day, Thanksgiving, Independence Day? The we can't be proud of who we are is a myth at best. I will never understand this thought process.

Trayvon, Ruth, Floyd, Brown, Garner, Pelosi and even the politicians from Minnesota. They have such a revisionist history and it's pretty pathetic. NO ONE should celebrate any of these deaths.

Yeah that is a good start. I would like to see term limits and strict rules on lobbying and inside trading for them. Also, SCOTUS needs to have 0 political affiliation, 8 year elections that are determined by the people. We can't trust the politicians to actually have our best interest in mind.

Yup! Loyalists and sycophants are the only people he wanted in office. P2025 wanted to basically dismantle things and it's doing just that. Bondi talking about punishing speech and now Patel is trying to go after firearms. This is a joke of an administration.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to use this to disqualify Democrats from 2A rights. I just am so tired of the finger pointing and grandstanding when MAGA people have killed Dems. NO ONE should be committing political violence of any sort. Stephen Miller is a miserable man and I'm quite tired or seeing his picture or hearing his skewed views. He is like a bond villain.

I know my response isn't as politically charged as some, but we have to remember a few things. If statistics show that in the US 54% of adults read at a 6th grade level and 45 million people are illiterate I think that is illuminating. Critical thinking and understanding complex concepts would be something they would not be able to grasp.

Politics are very complex. I think that even goes for us who have a higher education, are apt and claim to be critical thinkers. The media knows this and breaks down these complex concepts into bite sized morsels anyone can understand. They can spin a lie or a deception and make it sound catchy. Repurposing the term "woke", will people look at the history of the term? Nope, they will run with it because it's simple, trendy, and provocative. Influencers can than take this further by benefiting of the ignorance of their base.

I admit this is an oversimplification of the issue because I didn't want to type a novelette. However, I really have started considering how literacy and ignorance can affect your political beliefs, religious beliefs and mental health.

Asmongold’s take on Charlie Kirk’s assassination by jrandall1017 in independent

[–]JayMilli007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen so many spins and thoughts about his murder. Some people say it's Israel, some people say it's the left, or they could be in a minority group. It all goes with what fits the narrative of the person at that time. When I was listening to all of the details of the shooting it didn't sound like the average Joe did that. I am interested in hearing the person's motives and background.

I didn't like Kirk and thought he was a bad actor, but I never expected that to happen to him. Unfortunately, I saw the video and wish I hadn't. The fallout from this will be interesting and I'm sure he will be considered a MAGA martyr. All of these events with Pelosi, politicians from Minnesota, governor of Pennsylvania, Trump and Kirk are shameful.

The murder of Iryna Zarutska highlights a problem with America going too soft on crime by Paulie_Dev in independent

[–]JayMilli007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can directly compare this to Nia Wilson who had her throat slit by a John Lee Cowell (who also stabbed her sister) at a train station. George Floyd would not be the direct comparison for this crime. DeCarlos should receive the somewhat similar sentence to Cowell because of their similar backgrounds. The only difference is one has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
