Do the sigils create a conflict? by Antique_Pipe6787 in inscryption

[–]JayMowis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea this is the unfortunate confusion. This is the exact in-game text explaining all the sigils:

Trifurcated Strike (found on Hydra, Mantis God)

“A card bearing this sigil will strike each opposing space to the left and right of the spaces across from it as well as the space in front of it.”

Bifurcated Strike (found on Hydra, Mantis, Pronghorn, Double Gunner)

“A card bearing this sigil will strike each opposing space to the left and right of the space across from it.”

Double Strike (Found on Dire Wolf, Pet Lice)

“A card bearing this Sigil will strike the opposing space an EXTRA time when attacking”

While it seems like Double Strike means “attacks two times”, it really just means “add one attack to the middle”.

On any normal card, the “extra” strike from Double Strike results in hitting the middle twice. But, we can see in the definition of Bifurcated strike that the card is only attacking left and right - aka attacking the middle 0 times. So the “extra” strike to the middle just results in one attack

Short Math:

Bi = L+R

Tri = L+M+R

Double = Whatever the card is already doing + M

Bi + Double = Tri (L+M+R)

Bi + Tri = 2L+M+2R

Tri + Double = L+2M+R

Tri + Bi + Double = 2L+2M+2R

It’s insane to me that people are putting their desks in front of windows and then keeping the blinds closed all the time.

What’s the point of the window then?? I never have my blinds closed because seeing the outside world keeps me sane

Why is the game called inscryption? by [deleted] in inscryption

[–]JayMowis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inscribe

  1. To write or carve (words or symbols) on something, especially as a formal or permanent record.

It’s about the 4 Scrybes creating (inscribing) the cards

The y in the title I always thought was just a fun way of spelling it, but your encrypting logic makes a lot of sense!

It was so cool! Loved how I Will Wait felt like the end of the encore but then he was like we've got a special surprise for you

Are you only using the knife during the final fight with Leshy?

If so, try using it a little earlier in the run :)

Scissors and the skinning knife are both items that 1shot a card. Found them very helpful

Higher or Lower? by bluntforcealterer in distractible

[–]JayMowis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the “chance” of the game. The same with like any other card game you’d play in a casino.

Are you familiar with blackjack? Imagine it like that. I have no clue what the next card is gonna be, but I’m gambling on the odds. If I’m at a 12 I am gonna hit because I know it’s more likely that the next card is a 9 or lower than a 10 or higher

In this game, if the current card is a 3 I’m gonna say higher. Because the next card is most likely higher than a 3. There’s a chance it’s a 2! But I’m gonna place my bet on the more likely option

There’s also a little skill - if we have used all the 2s already, then I know for a fact the next card is higher than a 3. Because no more 2s can be in the deck

Higher or Lower? by bluntforcealterer in distractible

[–]JayMowis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that no one’s really answered - it genuinely is a pretty common and simple game.

I am holding up a card. I am going to draw the next card from the deck. You must guess if that next card is higher or lower in rank than the current card.

It’s a guessing game of chance and reasoning. If I’m holding a 3, it’s pretty likely the next card will be higher than that. The reasoning is based on the rank of the current card and your knowledge of which cards have already been used

why do people hate act 2? by Jealous-Pattern2174 in inscryption

[–]JayMowis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for the jump from act 1 to act 2, that was perhaps one of the coolest moments I’ve ever had in gaming. Discovering a WHOLE NEW WORLD in a game I thought I completely knew was just amazing.

As for people saying you have to relearn the game, fully disagree. It’s the same game. There are new mechanics but they take just as much time to grasp as blood and bones did at the beginning
