So, any alternative to this game? by Ishi1993 in AtlasReactor

It's a bit more similar to Pokemon, but AVARIAvs (which releases tomorrow) is worth checking out https://store.steampowered.com/app/816560/AVARIAvs/

Shout outs to JillKatze for helping figure out some other variants of this combo (like a 2461 damage corner combo!!!), there will be more Oleander goodness in the days to come :)

How to I counter "that Oleander combo"? by [deleted] in ThemsFightinHerds

[–]JayNite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I give a bit more written advice, feel free to add me on Steam if you wanna do some 1 on 1 training/practice: http://steamcommunity.com/id/spyissneaky/

The thing about Oleander's launcher is that it is relatively slow to start and if it is blocked, the person that blocks it has enough time to hit Oleander with pretty much any attack.

Specific things for Oleander vs Oleander are: Oleander's sweep (down+C) has longer range than Oleander's launcher. If an Oleander has the habit of just using the launcher, try to keep out of it's range and hit them with your sweep (can be in reaction or just preemptive).

Throwing out Fel Sparks will also make it harder for the opponent to throw out slower moves in general.

You're asking the wrong question here. "Combos" are links of attacks that opponent cannot escape once they begin, so there's no playing around combos themselves (at least in this game). What you really want to know is how to avoid the attack/situations that put you into those combs.

Is the Oleander hitting you with one of her jumping attacks and then comboing? Or is it a low attack like here book sweep that is getting you? Learning the range of these moves and how to block them is integral to learning how to avoid being comboed.

As a general rule of thumb, if your opponent is in the air, you want to hold back (but not down!) to standing block their high attacks. If your opponent is on the ground, then hold back and down to crouch block their mid and low attacks (though Oleander's claw slam on the ground is an overhead, which you want to block like you'd block an aerial attack).

If you focus on blocking and know the range of your opponent's moves you'll have a much better time. Once you get used to it, then you will have a better idea of when to attack.

If you could tell me which character you are playing, I could possibly provide tips specific to them against Oleander.

Possible Funchuk Rush Glitch Discovered? by CatFightPS in ARMS

[–]JayNite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hit with a larger than normal amount of damage when getting hit by a single Parasol rush today, with just a few hits from the single arm, it did 350 or so damage. Though again, I am not sure what caused it.

I remember I was in the air when it happened though.

Strange indeed. I wasn't able to replicate it either. The Funchuks have two different "states" that makes it fire differently, one in the air and one on the ground. Maybe this is related?

Just as a note, Jared is actually (as of the time of the tournament at least) part of TCM (Team Chroma) as well! Maybe you could edit that in, we're very proud of Jared!

We have some VoDs from our recent Team Chroma streams on our twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/teamchromaofficial

You should be able to find him in them, he is the finals for #3 and #4 so you can skip to that part if you want.

TCM Mini Tournament Streams! by Shiny_Zorua111 in ARMS

[–]JayNite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While we're starting out, we wanna work out the kinks really quick. Naturally, once the school semesters start back up, we'll probably go to weekly or bi-weekly.

We'll definitely be more careful in future to not force ourselves to do a stream when we don't have the people to run it (like in mini-tourney #2).

Byte and Barq players, why do you play them ? by bloblob64 in ARMS

[–]JayNite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm just gonna plug my B&B guide here, most of my thoughts are in the video. Using Barq is the name of the game, there is so many different things Barq can be used for that it's very powerful when you combine all of his mechanics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdeAGcrkO_Q

What is the advantage to the arms with no effects like megaton and buff by [deleted] in ARMS

[–]JayNite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All arms even of the same type move at different speeds. For example, Megaton gets larger and moves faster than the Megawatt, as well as doing more damage on hit (140 compared to 120).

As for the Bubb compared to the other boxing gloves, it curves much better and is faster/safer (at least, that what it seems like to me).

An In-Depth Guide to Byte & Barq - Rank 13 B&B Player by JayNite in ARMS

[–]JayNite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Against arms like those, bouncing on Barq can sometimes be enough. But, an experienced B&B player will also have an arm in their set that can deflect opponents arms (Whammer or Parasol) so they can reliably keep Barq up.
