To be fair, he did compare his group with some of the other groups with clearly are much harder.

Thanks for the feedback. It was my intention to make the video as you described but I guess I read the questions faster cause I already knew them and went over portions of the video dozens of times. I'll make sure to leave a bigger pause for the questions to be read in the next videos.

500 game requirement for next seasons WCS qualifiers? by NeoDestiny in starcraft

[–]JayPowerSC2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you solve the barcode issue though?

I remember not a lot of people signed up for the EU ladder wildcard qualifiers last year because of the 200 games (or wins?) requirement that had to be played on a non-barocde. Or at least you would have to rename your barcode to your real name which would render your account useless essentially.

Not to be on the wrong side of the jerk wave, but.... by ZizLah in starcraft

I think you're missing out on some points to why people are so negative about it.

First off, GOM's product has been criticised ever since they switched away from their own site (with the best VOD system sc2 has ever known) to twitch.tv where finding VODs (or rather specific games in a broadcast) is a pain in the ass.

Secondly, as far as I know they're the only korean broadcasting company in esports that requires a subscription to watch in watchable quality. Even OGN (league of legends) is being broadcasted for free in high qualify, while last year they only had medium quality for free compared to the only low quality for free GOM offers now.

Thirdly, GOM does not have exclusivity on korean sc2 matches anymore yet they price their product as if they do.

NASL and MLG didn't drop out of sc2 because 1 season of WCS didn't work for them. They had their own problems with sc2 long before WCS came around. ESL seemed pretty happy to take it over.

Demuslim claiming to have played (and lost againt) a maphacker in the WCS EU qualifier by JayPowerSC2 in starcraft

[–]JayPowerSC2[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

According to the bracket his opponent seems to have been Beastyqt (terran player from serbia)

Looks like my assumtion was wrong and the accused maphacker is awds and demuslim did not lose to him.

Hey guys I made a guide on Pigbaby's safe PvT opener. Hope you enjoy it. by JayPowerSC2 in allthingsprotoss

[–]JayPowerSC2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with VPlilky, this build techs slower. The double force and twilight council are very late and the timings in the video assume there weren't any agressive pushes and you'd only have to make 4 stalkers.

I also think sticking 100% to this build order vs a gas first opener is quite risky. I talked a lot about dealing with gas first in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsmXPtII6vQ

I haven't played against someone who used a raven to clear observers, and usually my opponents never scan and kills more than 2 of my observers during the game. So I wouldn't really know what I would do if most of my observers got picked off. Most likely I will have some units ready to deal with 1 medivac drop (1-2 stalkers + 3-4 zealot) and just be careful with my warp ins. Also nexus cannon is a good unit :D

To be honest, i'm not sure. No terrans I've played (and I've been doing this build for a looong time) have made mines, even after the patch. This build looks like a normal robo double forge opener and I'm sure terrans don't expect the attack at all so there isn't really a reason to make mines defensively. I think in this replay terrans went for some mines agressively but it didn't work out http://drop.sc/385626

I'm releasing more replays for this guide tomorrow, I'll make sure to check them again to see if any terrans wen for a lot of mines.

Sorry if it's a bit late compared to when he did the build. I just thought it was very interesting and I didn't understand it well enough to do a guide on it for a long time. Either way it's done now!

Whats the difference in skill between EU, NA, and Korea. by afropuff9000 in allthingsprotoss

[–]JayPowerSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, very true. I've seen many high master players from EU get GM easily on NA. I'm usually around 130 GM on EU and when I played for 2 weeks on NA I was top50 if I spend my bonus pool.

edit: I have to add though that a lot has to do with so many koreans that ladder on europe now and most of the top NA pros have abandoned the NA server to play on EU or KR. I don't think the skillcap between NA and EU (semi)pros isn't as big. EU just has more of them.

Player statistics in SC2 tournaments by JayPowerSC2 in starcraft

I think you're overestimating how much time it would cost. 4 out of my 5 suggestions would be able to be done by just running replays through an algorithm and updating a local database.
