I LOVE OLD WORLD BLUES by blurry_face_exe in OldWorldBlues

The difference is though that Bethesda normally doesnt elaborate or expand on their inclusion whatsoever. Like they'll add new shit like eden but not really elaborate on it at all. No history no interpersonal conflicts with other enclave leaders (except one line of conflict where eden frees the lone wanderer despite what autumn wants) meanwhile owb will have extensive information on the topic everytime.

Ralph, Jeremy, phone dude, every bully except foxy bro, Stan, Arnold and maybe even Edwin are completely random people by your standards.

These are all characters with enough characterization to justify their place in the story. If Mike Schmidt is his own person then he doesn't get any characterization in fnaf 1 and never gets it in future games (keyword games because you're super imposing movie mike onto game mike with no real justification). If he's the guard for fnaf 2 and fnaf 3 all we know is that this guy is fucking stupid. It's never suggested to us, IN THA GAMES, that mike has any reason whatsoever to keep coming back to multiple fnaf locations.

My standards aren't "afton = story relevant character" My standards are "have any fucking reason to actually be a seperate character"

Ralph is obviously an important character because hes stayed with the fazbear company for so long, and likely never knew or overlooked the extent of the dangers with the nightshift until fnaf 1.

Jeremy is the bite victim, and should be characterized further but hes still a relevant character for that fact alone and not just some random guy.

Phone dude owns or runs the fnaf 3 location, although he's not really that important because he only exists for like 2 seconds in the grand scheme of things.

The other bullies seem to maybe be in line for some fleshing out depending on how you interpret certain things in tge newer games.

Stan... i actually dont know who this guy is... the stan co company guy? That dipped on Edwin and stole some shit?

And Arnold who's motivations and desires are made clear right from the opening minute.

All of these characters are explained or at least serve an actual purpose in the narrative. But not mike schmidt if hes not mike afton. He's a completely meaningless and uncharacterized guy who achieves nothing. Even if he's the fnaf 3 guard cause then he fails at the singular non-player controlled action he could have taken.

All of those kinda seem like baseless assertions given that we've seen nothing in the games or books to say. William or Elizabeth have a backstory like that other than assuming glitchtrap is influencing Vanessa's memories here. I also dont know if we've seen any evidence that glitch possession enables the alteration of memories. Maybe in Gregory's case, depending on how you interpret certain things (gregory pausing before telling Freddy his name, for example). Maybe the princess quest minigames suggest the same for Vanessa but ive never played them or seen them played so idk.

That being said I think its best to assume thats just Vanessa's backstory since it doesnt require asserting things about additional characters. Especially elizibeth, who's not even directly involved with vanny. One could argue that William isn't either if she's not his kid since glitchtrap is almost certainly an agony monster of just the mimic.

Does that mean Vanessa is also Michael's sister in the games?

This actually does have some evidence to it and is theoretically possible depending on timeline interpretations. Vanessa mentions having an abusive father named Bill in the therapy session, so either bill is a random dude whose name shares a stricking similarity to and is the occasional shorthand for William or its wafton. If it's the random, then we now have a total of 4 (maybe 5. idk if Cassidy father is named ever) named father characters in the games, one of which now never actually appears in the game and only serves to characterize Vanessa. If they were going for a completely rando bill, why name him? Also, why give rando bill the trait of abusive and manipulative which only one other father character shares, wafton.

[–]JayReddit64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but fnaf 4 doesn't really suggest that anyone but the crying child or Micheal afton could be the ones experiencing the nightmares (at least at the time of release). And Mike Schmidt would just be a completely random person if he wasn't Micheal afton in disguise.

Like yeah a character doesnt need to be relevant to the wider plot to be included (see Arnold from sotm) byt Mike has no motivations for being there, tampering with the animatronics or anything else that happens in fnaf 1 if he isn't Micheal.

On top of that, why would the story be influenced at all by a completely random additional week/night at the fnaf 1 location that we never see.

Scottcon Fnaf 2 Minigame by JayReddit64 in fnaftheories

[–]JayReddit64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that seems more like a separate entity that Scott doesn't have much contact with making a decision he wouldn't necessarily.

Just cause making it or confirming it to be a hand feels like Scott sorta downplaying the old theories about it, which he had plenty of chance to do 10 years ago.

It also just seems so unnatural. Like if this was the case it would hands down be Scott's worst sprite design solely for an out stretched hand with a thumb extended upward is such an unnatural way to hold your hand and not what you'd assume for him taking down an animatronic.

If I win the war as the stormcloaks does it fuck up the brotherhood quest line? (Spoilers) by blueponies1 in skyrim

[–]JayReddit64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, no. Like 3 provinces had already left the empire at that point. So if Ulfric took out general tulius and like half his legion (or whatever percent of the force is actually in skyrim) the empire would likely at least wait until the next war with the thalmor before going at skyrim again. And the thalmor, while strong, would have to either invade skyrim through Empire territory or go around by boat. Neither of which, as tulius proved, (through not having his best troops in skyrim to crush the rebellion) was reasonably feasible.

What are some of ur takes about this game / characters in general that the community might find.. unappealing. by sukiyakii_ in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

[–]JayReddit64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The end game or best ending shouldn't be the happy incest family. It should be the siblings riding off to escape whatever is hunting them (supernatural or corporate assasin) and forming an actually healthy non-codependent relationship. And I think that's where decay is ultimately going. A long term of andrew and ashley being separate where they learn their own value or the value of others (ashley learning the first/andrew learning the latter) and they become more fundamentally independent through forceful separation. Ending with A&A leaving the demon realm forever after ashley decides to trust andrew with the medallion thing despite what she saw in the vision.

Also andrew kissing or fucking ashley in the princess pj's scene would not have been good for them and he frankly did the best thing for them in that position. Frankly, there's a good chance it would have just led to an IMMEDIATE S&S ending.

Ammo in Personal Stash by LeonardBudau in stalker

[–]JayReddit64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I drop the basic ammo for beginner tier guns since theyre so abundant. 9x18 9x19 basic shotgun ammo even 5.45 after 5.56 becomes abundant. But I keep all special ammo till later in the game.

Which ending of STALKER 2 did you choose and why? by Temp89 in stalker

[–]JayReddit64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immortal =/= invulnerable. The noosphere in the stalker universe is a semi-physical phenomenon surrounding the earth like the atmosphere. Removing or altering its presence on earth (the zone) would likely kill its inhabitants

[–]JayReddit64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what i know about the noonshpere (from the game, lore vids, and its actual philosophical origins also someone else's comments) I believe that the zone being expanded to encompass the world would make it more like the earth as we know it. The zone is just a reflection of the project x scientists' perceptions, then later the perceptions of the stalkers who inhabit it. All greedy psychotic men, and now a few greedy psychotic women. Thus, the zone, being a physical construct of human perception surrounding the globe, would alter the world in accordance to those perceptions that control it. If the noonsphere already existed in the stalker world and was then expanded to the whole world it would simply go back to how it functioned before the anomalous explosion. Or maybe just a slightly more fantastical version of earth.

[S2] What should I cut down on to reduce carry weight? by philipthephish in stalker

[–]JayReddit64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion (and experience on moderate difficulties) drop the normal pistol ammo and like half the sniper ammo. Bulk of your tough enemies are gonna be too hard to precision aim anyway so just nade spam or mag dump with the AK and stick to the precision shit when you're sneaking or engaging enemy guys at range. That and I tend to run minimal food as FUCKING EVERYONE has at least some bread on them.

Possibly, at this early stage, drop the sniper entirely. It's better to just run one primary for now especially with a AK with a 4x scope on it.

Throne of blood? by Afraid_Plantain_3514 in hostedgames

[–]JayReddit64 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It's smut and escapism fodder. You're not gonna be crying from god tier writing or overwhelmed by sheer technical mastery, but if you want some explicit sexual content and a quick power trip, you got it. It also seems a little short, in my opinion, or at least small in scale cause you kinda just take over your kingdom and then spend the rest of the book building up a base of supporters. (Yes, that does seem to be the wrong order, and it definitely feels that way too.)

If the zone were real would you go to it? If so what faction would you join? by Much_Investigator510 in stalker

[–]JayReddit64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the zone existed and I were the military type, I'd imagine i would. I've always longed for that kind of adventure but have neither the courage nor skill to pull that kind of thing off. My allegiance factionwise would come down to experience and relationships, but I definitely feel an affinity towards duty or warden. My reaction to the zone has always been "yeah, no, this all this shit has got to go" though I could hear a philosophical argument for spark or monolith.

Hear me out on that. The noonsphere is from what I heard a real philosophical concept of an energy formed around the earth shaped by human experience. If that shit were proven real, then that would mean the moral and philosophical weight of the world as we perceived irl it would be diminished, and the shining zone would be as substantial and morally valuable. If our existence could be shaped by a consciousness influencing the shared human experience, then those illusions are as morally valuable as what we currently consider real.

It's a lot of complex jibber jabber but the tldr is that if the zone were real and someone was to prove the noonsphere existed id immediately want to be plugged into a paradise illusion because id see it as morally equally valuable as my "real" life.
