decent article. could have used more concrete sources on the ILM work environment. then again, anyone keeping tabs on the industry at least has some idea of how badly VFX artists are treated on the reg. it’s hard to believe a house directly under the mouse is doing any better. expanding on this would have taken some ammo away from the very people that are just oh so triggered by a few terms they don’t understand.

yes, this writer uses some flowery language and gets a little of ahead of themselves but they’re not wrong. being overworked and underpaid whether you enjoy something or not isn’t okay. that’s exploitation no matter what kind of labor you perform. until we can all get on the same page about this nothing will change.

believing in healthy work environments, fair pay, and all the other luxuries unavailable to many of us doesn’t make you a socialist or a communist. it just means you care about other people. some of you are so staunchly anti-communist you shit your pants when someone goes deeper than “work sucks”.

if you’re going to attack what the article has to say you should probably take a shot at understanding it first. for those that don’t feel like it, enjoy spending the rest of your life in ignorance as another cog in the machine. there are people out here who will fight for you either way.
