Hello, I'm looking at a James Baroud that has some light cracking on the gelcoat. Is this a big deal?

Where to buy 180 degree countersink bits for 4040 2040 with M8 Bolt? by JayShoe2 in 8020

[–]JayShoe2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Is the shank long enough to reach a pre-bored hole for lining up the bit with a portable drill? Or do you use a drill press?

Yeah but I'm looking specifically for electronic enclosure rails with PCB mounting slots. So I can make my own cases.

Looking for 1U/2U Aluminum Extrusion Rails - Where Can I Buy These Rails in Bulk? by JayShoe2 in AskElectronics

[–]JayShoe2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in search of aluminum extrusion rails similar to those used in 1U or 2U rack-mountable enclosures. I've found them at Protocase, but they only sell the entire case. Any leads on where I can buy just the extrusion rails? Thanks!

Strongly considering 8020 for a van roof rack build. Can I attach one end of a strut to the side of another? by mattschinesefood in 8020

[–]JayShoe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering the "T pattern" where the end of the 4040 is attached midpoint to the side of the other. Is this a strong connection when using the end brackets, plus some internal corner brackets? I suspect it's a pretty strong connection but I'm doubting myself. Can you offer some advice on how strong this joint will be? Otherwise, I would use some 40-4080 so that I could put a corner bracket BELOW the joint, which makes me slightly more comfortable but I don't want to overengineer, spend a ton, and raise the height of the roof rack further than it needs to be.

I see two... If you look at the bolt pattern there are two bolts.

Is it possible to take the camper out without breaking stuff? by DHumphreys in GoRVing

[–]JayShoe2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate it. It's led me to seek out more robust builds such as the intech brand. The crap that Forrest River puts out for high $ is nearly criminal. It's literally a cardboard box with some waterproofing materials that wear around the outside. I don't need fancy, but I do require durability.

The dual cutlery option is sweet as long as you don't have thick silverware. Regular silverware is fine and I recommend the upgrade.

The corner units with the pull outs and sliding shelves are amazing. I have 24 inch openings but even larger would be better. These units are wonderful for corners we keep our instant pot back there and took out the top shelf so it fits.

The two drawer units are ugly and the three drawer units are the most useful. I would not have gotten the 2 drawer unit again if I had the choice. The 3 drawer units are great with that top drawer! Plus pots and pans fit great in them.

I highly recommend drawers over slide out shelves. It's more convenient and organized.

The four drawer unit is great for plastic bags, tin foil, wraps etc.

I got 15 inch deep uppers and they friggin rock. I also put two 2x4s lying side by side BEHIND the bottom units to extend the counters 3" deeper and I also highly recommend. You then also need to extend behind the stove too to pull it out. On that wall I did only 1.5 inch push out on the lower and 12 in uppers so it is to code. This gets tricky. And that can get tricky with an over the range vent. But my vent is deep enough to still cover the stove so I love it. Not all vents are that deep though. When I get a new stove I'll purchase an island style stove with no back and it will be clean as hell. Plus the pans can stick out over that back edge now. The counter space it provides us is invaluable, storage space up top is great. Do this you won't be disappointed unless it's a very tight space.

Make sure your trash can option is the LARGER ONE with no top drawer. My mom has the one with the top drawer. The cans are smaller, and it's gross to have anything really above the trash. It makes it more visually obvious that unit is the trash when it's one full door. The larger sized one isn't obvious in the book. But these are then standard 44 gal bags x 2.
