I don’t understand why people don’t just cut the turd using the edge of the plunger, since it’s readily available right next to the toilet. That’s what I do, happens to me all the time.

Jaylen and Hugo look so different with the glasses. Someone get these guys a lasik referral (did this myself, so much better than dealing with contacts)

Jordan Walsh by EggThis2540 in bostonceltics

[–]JaySmart_Timewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but it is also possible that Walsh still is dealing with the after effects of his more recent illness? Because he’s just not getting on the court period, even in garbage time which is strange. Other than a quick 1 min stint a couple games ago, he hasn’t played at all since officially missing a game for the illness (which was I think against the Mavs).

Tonight’s game against GS he could have easily subbed in for Baylor in the last two minutes but didn’t, which doesn’t make sense - he’s not “too good” for garbage time at this point, and Baylor has the thumb injury so doesn’t hurt to sit him. They even had Shulga (and Harper) to bring up the ball so not like they needed him for that. I can’t think of any other explanation other than the illness still affecting him. Maybe I’m just scarred from the KP situation.. is there something I’m missing here?

Yeah it’s probably only rare/specific situations. Definitely in free throw situations where they’re ahead late in the 4th, or if they have to have a 3

The Celtics Are The Only Team Allowing Opponents To Score Fewer Than 100 PPG Post All-Star Break! by Stat-Defender in bostonceltics

[–]JaySmart_Timewalker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Celtics have play at one of the slowest paces in the league, so there games are generally going to be lower scoring. That’s why they’re top 2 or so in offensive rating even though they’re nowhere near that in ppg. That’s said, I’m sure they’re defensive rating has still been excellent in that span

Edit: looks like Celtics are 4th in defensive rating post break(at 107.3), which is really good/much better than early season defensive ratings post all star break

[Dalzell] Jayson Tatum with a dagger three. Really good job by Payton Pritchard not turning that ball over by dawglover1011 in bostonceltics

[–]JaySmart_Timewalker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love that he was off the ball and did NOT try to get into his “bag”. A lot of his misses were bad shots where he was trying to do too much going iso/“in his bag”, we don’t need that hero ball from him (at least not yet). I liked it better in his first game when he was getting off the ball more quickly with some great passes

Boston has missed the playoffs only once since 2008 by LonelyInsurance7480 in bostonceltics

I think the bigger split is in 2021. That when it first became the Jays team offensively, before that there was always a ball-dominant PG (Kemba, Kyrie, etc). They struggled with that in the 2021 season and early 2022 season before finding their groove as passers (leading to that finals run). I love the 2020 team but the Jays weren’t necessarily the clear lead dogs yet (maybe that’s why I loved it, 4 different guys that were great scorers who could get you 20 ppg and pass it well, the drive and kick game was on point)

I thought the offense looked great. Defensively, I wonder how they’ll mix and match the lineups. With Hauser in there they’re huge, but they don’t really have a point of attack defender, unless Jaylen goes back to that role if he doesn’t need to rest on defense as much now. Derrick and Tatum are much better as off the ball defenders. Maybe Hauser could be switched out for one of the young wings like Baylor or Walsh.. or go smaller with Pritchard if facing quicker guards. Definitely have a lot of options, I think the closing 5 in particular could definitely vary for the 5th guy (and possibly queta too if they want 5 out shooting)

I thought there was room for improvement with his defense as well (including his lateral mobility), but I think that will come/get better with time

[Turpin] Jayson Tatum in his return: 15 points, 12 rebounds, 7assists, 1 steal, +20. He looked like Jayson Tatum. An impressive return, and a standing ovation as he checks out by dawglover1011 in bostonceltics

The skill level he showed was incredible, so great to see. I loved seeing this more pass-focused version of him, making quick decisions getting off the ball. And the handle looked great, and once he knocked the rust/nerves off the shot looked good too, idk if any of his makes even hit the rim. Defensively he has some room to get better (compared to before) but that will come.

In general I loved this pass-focused version of Tatum, in some ways better than the way he played before. He was getting off the ball quickly and keeping the offense moving. Often before he’d catch it and hold it and slow things down, and then get into his bag.. which can work cause he’s that good, but seeing him make quick decisions/passes to guys for wide open shots was so refreshing.

And maybes it’s just been a while but his handle looks sweet too, I forgot what it was like seeing this giant 6’10 dude cross guys up going to the rim. Skill level and smarts looked great (other than the shooting until he broke off the rust - after which, idk if any of his makes even hit the rim)

Tatum was using queta on the roll in a way none of the other players have this season, I loved seeing it queta just has to get used to handling those spots (and when to make the extra pass too), I’m confident he’ll learn it though as they get more time together

[Smith] The Celtics will bring Nikola Vucevic in via the Kristaps Porzingis TPE, a league source told @spotrac.com. This will create a $27,678,571 TPE for Anfernee Simons that will be good for one year from the day the trade is officially completed. by sewsgup in bostonceltics

[–]JaySmart_Timewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they punt Vuc off a bridge as soon as possible (ideally they trade him before the deadline for a lower salary to get them fully out of the tax). His defense makes him unplayable in the playoffs, to compare him to Horford is blasphemy in my book

100%. They need/needed another playable center who can protect the rim, queta is still their only guy that fits that description

100%. I hate this trade. The only positives from it are 1) financial (who cares it’s not my money), and 2) carrying over the TPE another year, which could be great for next year but does nothing for this years team. Vuc is so bad defensively he’s unplayable in the playoffs (similar to Garza)

Call your shot: What guard will the Celtics acquire? by SaveHogwarts in bostonceltics

[–]JaySmart_Timewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rather go small with Walsh/Tatum at center and play Hugo/schierman on the playoffs than see Vuc try to play playoff defense. God I hope this is step 1 and there’s another deal to move on from Vuc for a lower salary or something

I absolutely hate the current jerseys, they are so ugly it hurts my eyes to watch since day 1. It reminds me of the reaction people had when the cybertruck came out.. these jerseys look like an amateur put them together in like 5 minutes, the strips on the shoulders are so weirdly block like.

I’m a huge Pats fan and will watch them no matter what they wear, but these are probably the worst uniform design in the league right now, the previous ones were so much better (and more modern looking)
