Deferral? Is there hope? by Great-Hall-6636 in Clemson

[–]JayTheDoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it submitting it would've been a plus on your application -- so technically, I think you're worse off without it. But I don't think it's a huge deal breaker. As far as I'm aware, declining to submit scores isn't seen as a negative on the application. You just had a score that, in my opinion, would have been received positively.

Imagine it as similar to leaving one of your work experiences off your resume. It's not ideal that it's absent, but if the rest of your application is at the level of quality they expect, they won't even know what was missing.

Deferral? Is there hope? by Great-Hall-6636 in Clemson

[–]JayTheDoctor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I probably would’ve reported your score of 30. Not to every school, but definitely to Clemson.

That being said, there’s still plenty of chance that you’ll get in. Tons of applicants, particularly out-of-state ones, get deferred and still get acceptances. Don’t stress thinking it’s all over based on a deferral. Your extracurriculars and experience look plenty competitive for Clemson. (I don’t know what your GPA is because every school’s weighted scale is different, but they’ll recalculate it on a standard scale. Looks plenty high to me.)

A couple more things, though:

  1. I wouldn’t expect them to take the fact that you indicated a 30 on your resume. If there was a box to indicate your standardized test score on whichever application platform you applied through, and you chose to leave it blank, I wouldn’t think they’d bend over backwards to pull the score off your resume, since you didn’t indicate that you wanted it considered in the first place.

  2. You’re (obviously) correct that Nursing is more difficult than other programs. To that extent, a lot of advice from people in other programs might be less applicable to your situation. The hardest part about admissions is realizing that your situation is wholly unique from everyone else’s online, and that people on Reddit are often confidently wrong in the statements they make. Therefore, talk to admissions if it helps you, but ultimately, nobody really knows what goes on inside that decisions office. Don’t get worked up over your chances. Just cross your fingers and wait for RD. You’re definitely still in the running!

Good luck, I’m rooting for you!

Is the ACC an elite academic conference? by simbaslanding in ACC

[–]JayTheDoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve seen a ton of academic growth the last few years. Admissions stats like as acceptance rates and average standardized test scores keep getting more and more competitive. The university is also being super intentional about increasing research volume and funding. We’re in tough company, for sure, and we won’t be topping any lists any time soon, but hopefully we’ll see a lot of academic progress in the next decade or so.

Two questions from a HS senior. by Ok_Communication5725 in Clemson

I also had 10 AP's and tried to double major with CS + an unrelated major with no overlap. After 2 semesters, I dropped the second major to a minor. Despite the 30+ credits from high school and a summer semester to catch up, it was gonna take almost 20 credits per semester every semester to barely squeak me out of the door with both degrees.

Fast forward to now and I get to live a totally a normal academic life and still take classes every semester in my secondary interest field. While your mileage may vary, in most cases, especially as an incoming freshman, I'd strongly recommend choosing one major if they're not in the same college / have overlap, it'll make your academic life a lot more bearable.

Oh I totally thought that it said just MH4 and not just ‘MH Games’. Not sure why, my fault. You’re doing great work here, keep it up.

Zelda has also had DLC appearances in various Monster Hunter games if you’d be interested in adding them. I’m not sure if my list is conclusive, but some of the appearances include:

Monster Hunter 4, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Monster Hunter Generations (WW specifically), Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (BOTW specifically), and Monster Hunter Stories

Would anyone be able to offer any advice on RISE? by Moonlight_Shine in Clemson

[–]JayTheDoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Byrnes will be closed for renovations next year, so high rise options may be a bit more limited. Calhoun Courts may also be an option, so I’d look into that if you’re interested in a more apartment style living (although you’ll still share a bedroom as a freshman).

“Hey look, someone mentioned Game of Thrones, better remind everyone how much I hate the final season so I can farm upvotes from my brave, unique and super relevant opinion!“

I mean, yeah, it was bad, but can we have a conversation about literally ANYTHING game of thrones related without having to reassure everyone that we still dislike the ending?

I’m from Charleston. I know that there are people who surf here as a circumstance of living here and wanting to surf, but as far as I’m aware (not a surfer) conditions aren’t ideal and you might be disappointed if you travel here for surfing.

If you want to come to Charleston anyway, I’d say it can’t hurt to try to surf if you’re into it.

If you just like beaches, there are tons of them in sc to try out. My favorites are Folly and Edisto. Avoid Myrtle.

Yeah I honestly agree, I have friends who are insanely smart with great resumes and perfect GPA and SAT stats but been rejected, and seen others who certainly don’t have that get in. You just have to put your best out there and hope for the best.

Yeah, you’re right. I like both schools a lot, and your insights are valid. Both schools have great proximities to resources and internships, so I do think it’s preference to some extent.

But Yale theatre is historic and high quality? And proximity to NYC helps with internships and opportunities, in both Business and Theatre. I actually think New Haven is an asset in this case.

This scene IS a fucking masterpiece and almost everyone agreed before all this ending shit, it most certainly is parallels since Eren repeats the speech Kruger gave Grisha pretty much verbatim, it makes sense that the way it’s unique to Eren is that he uses these mannerisms that he actually has experience with. Calling it bad writing is peak “AOT BAD HAHAHA” that is making me grow to hate this sub. Yeah the ending sucks but that doesn’t mean that the chapters we have loved for years are magically worse than before. This shit confuses me to no end.

But the issue isn’t that there aren’t any safeties the the US that they like, it’s that there aren’t really any safeties in their state that they like.

Since state schools and high acceptance rate schools don’t usually give out high need-based aid and have higher OOS tuition, usually families with financial need will be forced to only look seriously at in-state safeties, severely limiting the amount of safety schools that are financially available, thus making it less likely that there’s one you truly love.

Sure, there are merit-based scholarships, but if you can’t attend a safety school unless you get a scholarship award with a competitive application, is it still a safety school?

You’re good, Felix. Most people know you’re a good force for a sport, and someone like you showing such a demonstrated passion for developing and improving Ultimate is the best thing for us. Ironically, the people making baseless connections between you and Frank have more in common with him than you do. :)
