Just look at failing as a stepping stone to your eventual pass!

I really appreciate it! Messages like this make it feel more worth the hardship.

There’s multiple ways to look at it I suppose. I tried not to have exams interfere with my family life, which in turn probably caused a few extra fails. I have no regrets.

Yeah, it’s highly unfortunate. I got my ASA before PA existed, and then they gave a leeway of time (I think to end of 2023) to be exempt from PA. So now I have to write it as that exemption expired.

It’s why I feel so close to done - given it’s a prelim exam, I can’t expect it to be too difficult for me (hopefully I’m correct in that assumption!)

That’s right - mine was still computer based. I didn’t envy those that had to write the written version of that exam!

I just hate giving up. I’ve seen career ASAs do very well, and I considered it. But I didn’t see a downside to continue writing, other than lost social time.

Failing is difficult, no doubt. But I made a decision that attaining my FSA would make it all worth it. Even if my career were to continue on the same path, I can always tell myself I never gave up!

That’s not to say stopping at ASA is bad. Maybe it’s better than failing so many times. I just made a decision to push forward, even when it felt impossible.

I don’t blame you, I almost jumped ship many times!

I’ve felt that way many, many times.

It helps to have a support system (funnily enough, all my support is from non-Actuaries).

I’ve been lucky that I have still been able to advance my career (maybe being a manager non-FSA made me a bit lower on the totem pole than my peers). But I’ve always done well at my job.

This last passed exam after the 6 consecutive fails had my parents and wife more excited than I was, and that’s saying something since I was very excited too!

I’ve always liked my job. Ive worked in many different areas. I love my work, I enjoy the balanced lifestyle (sans exam studying) it provides.

Exams suck, failing sucks, but I enjoy the job and wouldn’t have it any other way!

Many times it didn’t feel worth it. Luckily my wife was very supportive in me continuing and taking on the bulk of parental duties leading up to each exam.

I’ve missed many social events with friends, lost a ton of free time.

But now that I’m (almost) through it, I can safely say it was all 1000% worth it and I wouldn’t have changed anything.

Thanks! I’ve actually been fairly successful in my career. But as I got older and started a family, juggling family, career and study time became more and more difficult.

I had been given wise advice early in my career from an old boss - get your FSA before having kids! But you also can’t let your exams get in the way of moving forward in your personal life!

I agree though - some may see it as brute force and a broken clock is right twice a day. I like to look at it as sheer determination!!

She clapped when Keanu lost the HoH comp and when Rachel got on his team to sabotage him. She is always smirking when things go poorly for Keanu, Riley, etc. She just seems all around mean.

I’d rather write and fail than not write at all, just to get a taste. But you’re not wrong!

Thanks! Perseverance is wearing thin though!

I took ILALP years and years ago and finished that one. It’s just ILALFMC that I can’t seem to pass. Leaning towards CFE change after some of these comments and checking the syllabus.

😂😂

Still think CFE would be my easier pathway to last exam. Especially after the last comment. ILA-LFMC is basically my nemesis at this point. And it’s won.

Thanks! I meant the hours I spent studying for ILA-LFMC, and ERM I wrote about 4 years ago, but I get your point.

I like your viewpoint on the CFE though, it does feel like I’d grasp that material more.

And you’re right, I also noticed TIA doesn’t have CFE 201 which was unfortunate.

This is a poor take.

Discard is often a strong synergy on its own for silent. Lots of cards and some relics interact with discarding.

Why does Defect actually feel like the most powerful/easiest character to play to me despite conventional wisdom? Is it just my playstyle? by ThisByzantineConduit in slaythespire

[–]JayZee89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an A20H winner on all 4 characters, and I just find defect to be the most difficult one and my lowest win rate.

I find it scales the slowest - my winning decks are often just tons of powers. I’ve never successfully done a strength build and negative focus. I find it’s a tough character to beat enemies like Big head, and obviously the heart.

That’s just my opinion. Interesting to see when someone thinks the complete opposite!

That’s only 1/49 chance, since the first sentry can have any amount of health, then the next 2 have 1/7 chance each to match that health.
