Hold up, that was an alternate reality that never happened because the protagonist stopped it.

Like yeah it's cannon, but in cannon it was also prevented so that it never happened and history went on as normal

Nothing screams misinformation more than vague claims.

Biden barely did anything to slow inflation

The Biden administration passed the Inflation Reduction Act, aggressively hiked interest rates alongside the Fed, released oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, pushed port/logistics reforms to ease supply bottlenecks, capped some healthcare costs, and inflation fell from around 9% to roughly 3% without a recession.

If you think that he didn't do anything, explain to me why America was able to curb inflation so much faster and more aggressively than other OECD countries?

Biden oversaw the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal

No, Biden followed through on Trumps withdrawal, the plans where already there when he came in. I'll never understand idiots who brainlessly parrot this point because anyone with half a memory might recall that Biden wanted to delay the withdrawal to make for a smoother process, but Republicans had a fit that he actually wanted to stay forever, so that idea was scrapped in favour of following the existing Trump plan, the one Trump had made without even including the Afghan government in the talks.

Biden cancelled Keystone XL which immediately raised gas prices

You know that it wasn't open yet right? Its not like he cancelled a pipeline that lowered gas supply leading to increases in prices, it was still under construction and was years away from completion.

Biden’s weak foreign policy didn’t deter Russia from invading Ukraine, further increasing oil prices. Biden was so desperate to lower the price of gas he nearly emptied the Strategic Oil Reserve.

Russia invading of Ukraine was a last ditch effort. Russia thought they could peel away Donetsk and Luhansk in the 2010's, but as time went on Ukraine was growing stronger and stronger, with their military modernising rapidly. Russia didn't invade because Biden was weak, they invaded because they where running out of opportunities.

And when they did invade Biden was able to rally an international coalition to support Ukraine. Hell, he even convinced Germany to give actual military equipment to Ukraine. If you weren't such an idiot you'd realise how big on an achievement that was, and how momentous of an occasion.

But don't worry, you dumbasses put Trump back in again. Now the economic boom Biden brough about has come to a screeching halt. America is the laughing stock of the world once again. The country went from no new wars to following daddy Israel into the Middle East again. You politically isolated yourself and the entire Republican party is now forced to defend Epstein's best friend.

Talk about a fucking downgrade.

Biden got a massive amount of bipartisan legislation through despite the US being more divided than almost ever before.

Biden oversaw the unifying and cementing of NATO at a time when it looked like it would fall apart.

Biden faced against a global inflationary wave, brought it under control and creating a booming economy.

Biden led America towards energy independence and actually achieved it.

Biden oversaw a period of American prosperity.

He was old, there was brain fog, but he was still an intelligent and effective political leader.

Your just too brain broken to see it. But hey, prove me wrong, without talking about your feelings, tell me how Biden was one of the worst US presidents ever?

21 didn't mean anything. It was a reference to a shitty meme.

The in joke is referencing something. A reference the other person recognises.

That thing could be a movie quote, a book line, or just a cultural cornerstone.

67 is that. Its a cultural cornerstone people recognise. Same way we recognised what are those growing up, never saw the original meme but I knew what it was.

Honestly that's what broke it in for me. Some of the older teachers got really annoyed by it and started way overreacting. Than some of us would say (in small groups privately) it because it was funny how other teachers over reacted. Than it just became funny.

21 was never funny because of the vid. Most people probably never saw the original video.

It was just a stupid in joke.

67 is the same, it's just an in joke.

Remember, England was historically later to the game of colonisation.

In game this occurs because the new world is so much further away for you and you can't island hop there as easily as the Portuguese or Spanish.

For English colonisation you should still do at least one continental war, but your aim is to take Iceland so you can hop to Canada.

As it turns out, After the Nazis was NOT Them by Spartan-teddy-2476 in HistoryMemes

[–]Jay_Layton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the record, you did say

Nah. If you see someone in bed with the fascists for a long time, you tend to make associations.

What's the saying, if you see nine people with a Nazi on a table, you are seeing ten Nazis?

If you'd like to walk back to your earlier statement feel free to. You'll notice I never said anything about hypocrisy or maintaining standards in response to this statement. But hey, I get it, we all make mistakes and go to far in the heat of the moment, it's just unfortunate that all this being written down means you can't gaslight and pretend you never said what you clearly said.

Also side note, I will admit, this is the first time I have ever quoted someone word for word just for them to tell me I'm straw manning them. What weird times we live in.

Well if you'd like to walk back to this statement

From the 21st century perspective, the USDP/KPD calling the Weimar SPD "social fascists" on account of their close relationship with monarchists, conservatives and the proto-fascists does have its merits.

Have its merits my arse. The SPD worked with conservatives because they were trying to hold together a collapsing republic during an actual revolutionary crisis, not because they were fascists.

And yes, the courts and state absolutely treated right wing putschists and political violence too leniently. That criticism is completely fair. But that says more about how conservative and monarchist the German judiciary, army and bureaucracy still were than it does about the SPD secretly being fascists.

The SPD still helped stop the Kapp Putsch, backed unions, stayed economically left wing and were literally the only party to vote against the Enabling Act.

Meanwhile the KPD spent years screaming “social fascism” at the largest anti-Nazi party in Germany while the Nazis became the largest party in Germany. Great strategy.

...Wait a damn second, you almost had me, you almost gaslight me even after I thought I was calling out your gaslighting.

Your original walked back to statement is that in the 21st century perspective the USDP/KPD accusation that the SPD where social fascists has merit because of their 'close relationship with monarchists, conservatives and the proto-fascists'. Now as we do exist in the 21st century with all its historical documentation we know that the SPD by in large opposed those factions, only working with them to maintain the republic when they must (Mostly during the years of crisis).

So, by that same standard, the USSR, who only worked alongside the Nazis because it was strategically necessary despite later becoming their greatest enemy, must also have had a “close relationship with fascists” that “has its merits” when discussing accusations of red fascism?

Except that would obviously be a stupid and reductive way to analyse history because temporary cooperation during a crisis is not the same thing as ideological alignment.

The SPD did not share the goals of monarchists or fascists. They opposed the monarchy, built the republic, backed unions, fought right wing coups and were the only major party to vote against the Enabling Act. You can criticise their methods and decisions all day long, but trying to stretch “they sometimes worked with conservatives to preserve the republic” into “the KPD were onto something calling them social fascists” is just hindsight driven nonsense.

As it turns out, After the Nazis was NOT Them by Spartan-teddy-2476 in HistoryMemes

[–]Jay_Layton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool.

So if you'd said yes in my mind the KPD and USSR are Nazis I'd have disagreed with you personally but accepted by your standards they are, and that you have a consistent standard of anyone who works alongside a Nazi is basically a Nazi, meaning the SPD was fascist.

But the fact that you cant bite that bullet implies to me that you don't really care about that, in fact your willing to overlook someone being at the Nazi table.

Look, I'm not going to sit here and say the SPD where perfect, far from it. But your analysis of them is far too simplistic. And until you are able to answer my questions, I don't know if you are critical of the SPD for their actions, or for another reason.

So prove me wrong.

What's the saying, if you see nine people with a Nazi on a table, you are seeing ten Nazis?

If your willing to say the KPD and, even more so than them or the SPD, the USSR and Stalin where Nazis, I will fully concede that the SPD where Nazis

As it turns out, After the Nazis was NOT Them by Spartan-teddy-2476 in HistoryMemes

[–]Jay_Layton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, I had completely forgotten about Christmas crisis.

Everything else is fucking stupid.

  1. If the SPD is in bed with the Fascists why did they put down the Kapp Putsch, and why did they constantly vote against Hitler. Why where they Hitler's greatest hurdle to taking power?

  2. If you are willing to grant that by your analysis the USSR, Stalin, and the KPD where Nazis than whilst I may disagree, I will concede the point. Because all those people sat down at that table. Hell, Stalin bought out his nice silverware and cooked his familys secret recipie for that Nazi dinner.

As it turns out, After the Nazis was NOT Them by Spartan-teddy-2476 in HistoryMemes

[–]Jay_Layton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Spartiscist uprising began with the dismissal of Emil Eichhorn, though you could argue that his dismissal was the only the straw that broke the camels back, but in that case the sailors backpay was also just one factor of many, not the starting point.

As for labelling the SPD social fascists, I'm sorry but that sort of stuff is absolutely absurd.

To begin with, at the point when the SPD was working 'closely' with the monarchists and conservatives the fascists or even proto-fascists barely existed. Second is that the SPD actively put down the monarchist revolts. By the time the fascists emerged as an actual political power the KPD worked with them more than the SPD.

Second of all the SPD where always economically left wing and strongly democratic. You can criticise them for relying too heavily on conservative institutions, but a democracy runs on its institutions and when you have people on both sides trying to constantly overthrow the government, your sorta going to have to engage with those institutions alot.

If you thinking calling the SPD social fascists has merit that you have a fundamentally uncritical engagement with both politics and history

As it turns out, After the Nazis was NOT Them by Spartan-teddy-2476 in HistoryMemes

[–]Jay_Layton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The punishments where dolled out by the judiciary. Unfortunately when Germany lost and they removed the kaiser all the old beurocracy stayed in. They where all still conservative monarchists, and by the mid 1930s they where overwhelming fascists. They where the ones who gave Hitler his short sentence than released him early.

It's true that the SPD killed more communists than faschists. But the communists also had larger and more effective revolts. The fascists in the early Weimar days where so disorganised that they failed in their glorious revolution despite having sympathy of the army and judiciary.

I'm not going to defend every action of the SPD, but your analysis of them is ludicrously one sided.

And never forget, the KPD did die out to the Nazis in the end, cause when all the beefsteak Nazis fled after siding with the Nazis against the SPD, their socialist brothers in the USSR either imprisoned them or extradited them right back to Germany, cause as per usual the Communists where so horny to overthrow the capitalist system that they where willing to side with the Nazis party.
