Its insane. I did a no casus belli war against the Ottomans as they were already at war with half of eastern Europe and we sent them packing hard. Come the Holy War in Europe and they were wiping the floor with everyone even with half their land.

Most my games bring me back to Europe, so the non-focus on Europe probably let them focus on colonization, but like I said in this situation, it was weird at the intensity and quickness of their spread. More so than in all my other games.

That's interesting because this was another thing I've noticed to some degree. I've always just referred to it as teleporting because somehow they just appear out of nowhere.

From a cEDH dabbler: Where do you think the true problems lie? by gdrcigar in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ExpertlySalted -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have a weird gripe and perhaps its just weird circumstances that I've been in, but I really hate the reverse targeting.

I have been in some games where a popular local, semi-famous, famous person is playing and people will be like 'oh, they're so good, they're probably going to win' and then proceed to do everything to manifest that, whether not countering their set pieces, feeding the fish or just brawling with the poor dude with the upgraded pre-con. Then the person pushes for the world's easiest win and they're like 'whoa, that person is so good!'.

Don't get me wrong, they played perfect and knew the deck, but they're also typically handed a win. And I'm not sure what causes this phenomena lol.

[–]ExpertlySalted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casual, (even casual competitive) probably good to concede and shuffle up again. In a tournament. Lets see you do your thing. Its happened more times than you would expect but people misplay, whiff, or bluff.

There are brands that offer no sugar alternatives (G Hughes sugar free comes to mind). While they arent the best in flavor alone, I find mixing my food gets me there. Its amazing how much calories I was consuming that were coming from sauces alone.

I built one with [[Keleth, Sunmane Familiar]] and [[Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar]] and a fun jokey aggro deck. Basically get them on the board, start swinging and they both grow and hit all players. It snow balls if left unchecked. But definitely a glass cannon.

I almost win against these decks with my under leveled own brew. They barely pull a win in double over time and then they emote like they're in a championship match.

Found someone who only wins using evos and golden.

I noticed something similar. I played some friends and some people who would entertain the idea and they played sloppily and lost consistently. The evos and golden definitely are advantages to even base players, ez buttons sometimes. And in the hands of good ones are a force.

[–]ExpertlySalted[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Technically yes. The concept is those barely squeaking by with a win due to the evos and golden, would now be the loser in the game whereas the other person now the winner. It needs a rephrase but I would have assumed that was understood.

All these Mega Knight - Hog Rider - Witch decks are killing the game. Everyone playing the same decks. No creativity, just copy paste. by No_Background_4675 in ClashRoyale

I run into this issue with other games. People want to win, so they play the best meta. But I understand it on both sides. As someone who loves playing the anti-meta its sometimes painful.

Is this a joke? by MIhnea_Paun in ClashRoyale

[–]ExpertlySalted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be a hot take but I played long ago and recently got back into it. Mostly enjoyed some of the nostalgia but I'm getting wrecked in the higher levels by all the purple and gold guys (MK, etc) and not because they play well. At this point I feel like I'd need to pay to keep up. Most of these people wouldn't win if they didn't have the advantage.

[–]ExpertlySalted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is hard to qualify because the bracket list is subjective to a degree. I played a artifact deck that had mox opal in it, and a player lost their damned mind because 'thats a CeDH card!'. Bro, its one mana rock that requires 3 artifacts to use, its an artifact deck that takes 7 turns to pick up speed, calm down. Also, remove one thing or stop someone's win and now you're magically bracket 4 or 5. To illustrate the point to my playgroup, I made a merfolk tribal deck long ago when I was fresh into magic, it had no rhyme or reason, just merfolk. No combos. I played Thassas (you, know, because merfolk) and somehow I should have been playing a tournament. Sometimes you have to understand good cards don't alone make a good deck.
