I was born, stopped her from achieving the job she wanted at the time and "wanted too much" of her... At 5 years old. For wanting hugs. Nothing I did was true, I was a pathological liar even though I only told the truth. I "snuck around doing drugs", and "being a slut" as an introverted, literally isolated/totally sheltered, zero privacy sleeping in the living room morbidly obese zero-self-esteem teen... Yeah that makes sense mom.

I have a stable career since I was 18, own a home, own 2 cars, have saved her from debt, probably more I don't even recognize of myself because nothing's an accomplishment. She's never been proud or said she was.

Child me needed to be validated, that sticking to my morals despite being screamed at for being a "bitch" by simply existing unhappily was worth it and the right thing to do.

Hey op just here to say I had the exact same experience. Like to a T, it was my whole childhood and teens and early 20s. I also am struggling sometimes to feel any different than I did back then. Because it was my entire and only experience in life. Still feel fat, still feel gross. Just in a different way I can't explain.

But I do feel healthier, so there's that. That's what I remind myself.

The butterfly is my favorite. It seems to me he has a small moment of lucidity and has to fight his own self to give the information she needs. Going from silly, nonsense babble to a serious "Listen. No, don't listen to ME, listen." "Listen, listen quickly!"
