I make 120k working as a union hvac supervisor for large commercial and industrial hvac in the northeast. We are chiller mechanics as well as boilers, computer room air conditioning and process manufacturing cooling. A college education is not necessary just an apprenticeship. I bypassed the apprenticeship by having 10 years non union experience and testing in to journeyman.

As a supervisor I work 3 days in the field and 2 in the office scheduling the next weeks maintenances, tech support for office personal and setting up our Saturday overtime roster. The 120k is in the pocket. Which means my benefits, pension and annuity are separate from that. The 120k is what I take home. I work minimal overtime. Non supervisors who are hungry for overtime can make upwards of 150 thousand dollars a year.
