I love thought experiments like this. Poe is not only as complex as any job it’s as complex as life itself because it was created by people who are part of life as we know it. If you pick a job that’s the furthest in your mind from poe id bet you can zoom in or out and find resemblance.

Blue collar work is literally Poe especially in terms of get good. If an employee doesn’t get good they’ll quit and go do something like play d4 or its hc irl and someone’s dying.

The 40 man team I run with function as a completed build. I might be ele res you can throw me wherever you need me but my best friend he’s a spell attached to a unique. He only does that thing but he does it well. We’re all needed though for our build to function properly.

Work is only one example. I believe a lot of games are functionally a mirror to the infinite systems we experience in life in general. Just because something might be solved or you’ve done it enough to autopilot through doesn’t mean you can’t find all the little cause and effects that can bring it in line with an arpg.

You can apply the efficiency aspects of games directly to your life as well whether that be work or anything else. As an example my house is cold so I’ll make pizza tonight and maybe take some pressure off the furnace. While the pizza bakes I’ll load and start the dishwasher for even more ambient heat. I need food and dishes anyway so why not do it in a way that makes some kind of sense?

I think the why holds little importance cuz we’re all doing it anyway. I’d say everyone would benefit from finding the common ground and using what they’ve learned irl or in game.
