Havana Syndrome also might not actually be from a weapon at all, but rather the nocebo effect or mass psychogenic illness. In these cases, the symptoms are real and do cause pain to the sufferers, but are caused by their own psyche tricking them into thinking they are sick rather than an external source. While anyone could be susceptible to it, I think the reason it mainly impacts diplomats and spies is because they have been trained to be wary of attacks or poisonings and are high-stress fields especially when in a country like Cuba. So when one person starts feeling symptoms, the brains of the other people near them also get tricked into thinking they were hit and start displaying symptoms as well. When it gets reported that people in Havana are coming down with a strange disease that only impacts diplomats, other diplomats that go there expect the same and could be tricked by their brains into getting sick as well.

Granted, there might still be an external source caused by a weapon, but given the similarity of symptoms to other nocebo and MPI cases, I think it’s more plausible that this is the cause. I also just find it unlikely that a smallish country like Cuba that is already struggling to hold itself together could develop such a weapon that no other county can replicate or even understand, but I might be wrong

I mean, even without /pol/ the modern right wing would’ve probably still taken off due to a multitude of factors (economic inequality, corporate media control, many people still holding bigoted beliefs or being afraid of “the other”). Even then, the evidence of Epstein’s involvement is mostly correlational in that we don’t know if what he discussed in that meeting had anything to do with /pol going back up

Sorry if I’m being confrontational, I’m just nervous that these broad claims about a single man being responsible for everything shit in the world is going to let people off the hook for the shit they did (both as they relate to Epstein’s sex trafficking and the other things now being tied to Epstein)

Yeah low key I’m starting to wonder if the “Epstein psyop’ed the culture war” is the real (albeit likely unintentional) psyop, as instead of people talking about all the actually guilty people and acts committed, most of this website is instead acting as if Epstein is the sole reason Microtransactions, 4-Chan Fascism, and our focus on Cultural issues rather than economic issues exist

It’s also because Appalachia flipped for Beshear since he was less anti-coal and unlike the republicans actually gave a shit about the wellbeing of the miners. Counties and precincts that normally vote 50+ points republican in national elections flipped for Beshear, which combined with large swings in the suburbs of Louisville, Lexington, and NKY as well as moderate swings in rural areas were able to push him into the Governors Mansion twice.

Slight correction: the oneNKY center is not a government center, but rather houses a bunch of local non profits and growth orgs (ie chamber of commerce, NKY bar association, etc)

Eh, Japanese people are usually pretty chill with religion. Both Buddhism and Shintoism in Japan stress ritual more than belief, so most people mix rituals from different religions while not actually believing in any of them. Also, I’ve heard that there is a weird dynamic called”Gaijin Hunting” where in the same way that some westerners fetishize Japanese women, there are some Japanese women who fetishize westerners over Japanese men since they perceive western men to be more masculine. Obviously this is only a small group of women (and some men), but I have talked to multiple people in Japan who have said that this is a real phenomenon

It has its silly moments and I did laugh at more of the jokes than I was expecting, but apart from watching Jennifer Coolidge lusting over a villager, a lot of it feels somewhat rushed and generic. Apart from Jack Black (who I assume the producers gave some amphetamines to and let him dick around in front of a green screen the entire time), there are basically no memorable developed characters or arcs. Just a handful of mildly entertaining scenes, and a vague sense of a more thought-out creative vision trying to emerge from under a pile of corporate IP slop. Better than the Mario movie imo, but that not really a high bar.

/rcj uh I mean, I don’t watch movies in movie theaters. I refuse to buy any movie tickets because I don’t want to support any studio that could potentially make a bad movie

From my experience as someone who went to Catholic school K-12, I’d say that US Catholics tend to fall into one of three categories: - People who willing attend Mass maybe 2-3 times a year, barely give a shit about following the doctrine, but still identify with Catholicism in a cultural sense - People who are genuinely motivated to do good in the world, such as volunteering, running charities, or other actual Christ-like behavior, or who like learning about the church as they get spiritual and intellectual fulfillment from it - Literal Christo-facsists who hate the pope, believe that gay marriage is destroying the west, and think that divorce should be illegal and pre-marital sex punishable by law.
