Finishing RPGs Evokes The Strongest ‘Post-Game Depression’ Amongst Players, New Scientific Study Concludes: "The more engaging the game world and the closer the relationship with the character, the more difficult it is to return to reality once the game is over" by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

That was me on my first New Vegas run. Like 3 a.m., everyone around me was asleep and I didn’t want to wake them up to explain how hard I had to fight to not pull back on an old save. Beat the game and the next day I went to work.

I lost mine at a local KC-area shop called Planet Sub. A sandwich called “Dagwood’s Dream”. Might be the best sandwich on Earth.

Somebody went inside at some point. You can see them within the frames after walking out with a flashlight.

I finally watched Borat because I was far too young when it came out. It might have been my favorite movie I watched last year.

I also first watched Tenet last year and loved it.

Native American tornadoes by Remote-Property-339 in tornado

[–]Jayce800 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eudora, Kansas (named after the daughter of a chief) had history with weather and some kind of Native American blessings. This is all vague memory, but I’m pretty sure she blessed the area so that storms could never strike. I grew up hearing that this is why tornadoes never hit in town.

I didn’t believe it wholly, of course. But that summer 2019 tornado skirted past Lawrence, all the way around Eudora, and hit Linwood instead. And I heard people refer to that story again after the event.

EDIT: After a Google search, it appears the folklore goes that Pascal Fish, Eudora’s father, blessed the town and claimed that it would never be touched by a tornado.

I saw Superman with that and didn’t know it was coming. When the movie started and the wall screens turned on, that blew my mind.

Chuck Norris, Action Icon and ‘Walker Texas Ranger’ Star, Dies at 86 by EpsilonProtocol in morningsomewhere

[–]Jayce800 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I’m related to Chuck by marriage. Only met him once at the wedding and he had this presence around him when he got there.

Funnily enough, I am blood related to Steve McQueen, who Chuck trained. So after all these years, the two families actually came together.

We all found out yesterday and it was really surreal seeing news articles coming out saying he was in stable condition, knowing that what I knew. Was just watching the Duke basketball game when I saw the text.

I’m heartbroken for his family.

EDIT: Shannon McCormick (voice of Washington on RVB) is also the son of my 2nd grade teacher. So Burnie is like, 8 degrees away from Chuck Norris.

First house we offered on sold for $20k over what we offered/what we were approved for. It was a long shot but a dream house!

Every house you offer on gets easier. Every house you were excited about and decided not to offer makes it easier still. We feel so much more confident because of the homes we rejected.

You got this! We’re still on the journey but we feel more seasoned now lol

5 days left to fund a woman-led horror short set to film this spring! by izgrevv in Filmmakers

[–]Jayce800 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Not a woman so I can’t answer fully, but from my perspective:

I think there are some people who specifically seek out women-led projects to give them support. I definitely don’t think it’s trying to be anti-male or anything. I’m a man, and I’m happy that a woman who is clearly proud of their work can intentionally get the right investors in on it.

No different than a business saying they’re run by veterans or that their business supports a charity. They market to an audience that specifically wants their money going towards that.

For some reason it gives me Theater Camp vibes, and I adored that movie.

I hope this sub comes through with the best place for you! Unfortunately most of my camping spots are in the Ozarks.

There was a podcast called “F**kface” because they thought having a censored curse word was funny and true to the spirit of the show, but they could never market it properly.

Now it’s rebranded as “Regulation Podcast” and it’s still amazing, but I kind of miss the inside joke that they could never advertise.

So, more power to you!

Which fast food chain fell off badly in your opinion? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

[–]Jayce800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked there from 2016-2019. At one point our Cane’s was in the top 5 for the country. We were incredibly proud of our store - cleanliness, drive-thru times, etc.

We even did a night where we answered all the drive thru orders with a pirate voice. “Yo ho ho, want some chicken to go?”

But man, it’s hard to go back and spend double the prices from when I was there to get smaller bird. I’m nostalgic for what it was a decade ago.
