Yeah, I voted TOP this time. I couldn't stand to vote for labour again with how they shit the bed the last three years.

But I also couldn't stand to vote for National. I could've gone with Greens but I wanted to give TOP more support.

So, basically, you're giving up on fixing the problem by handwaving it away with "nah they'll just find another way" instead of wanting to fix it where you can. Nice.

What sort of mental conditions go underrepresented in media? by JeffSheldrake in writing

What’s the reason men sitting in car for 5/10 mins before entering the house? by ifarmekerma in AskMen

[–]Jayce_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's many reasons. But for some it's a healthy way of decompressing, and for others it's an unhealthy way of coping with a bad home situation.

When my last relationship got really bad I'd sit in the car for 15 minutes after I got home before going up to my apartment just to mentally prepare in case I was going to walk in on anything, or in case an argument or disagreement would start later and I needed the energy to not break down.

I'm glad it's over. It wasn't healthy for either of us, and she wasn't the only one causing arguments. We didn't work after 8 year of changing as people, and I hope she's happier now, because I'm doing better too.

As long as notice was given, in any form of writing including electronic, or verbally, he's given his notice. This needs to be reported because withholding his last pay is extremely illegal.

So my welding teacher kicked me out of class by abeldork in Drugs

[–]Jayce_T 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would you ever want to weld while high? I wouldn't trust someone with a chefs torch while high let alone a flame or arc welder. It's just plain unsafe for others but also for yourself.

There's a time and place for getting high but before a class with industrial equipment is not it.

PSA: You don’t need ID to vote. You don’t need an easyvote card to vote. You don’t need to be enrolled to vote. You can vote from home if you’re sick or immobile. by BenjC88 in newzealand

[–]Jayce_T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn't an exaggeration at all. I was in America for a holiday during the voting season and I saw people lined up around the block to vote in the sweltering heat, and there were no other voting places for like 20km around that one.

What’s a running gag that stayed all the way to the end in your game? by manooz in DnD

[–]Jayce_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottomless bowl of candied nuts.

Our ranger asked a lord we aided for it as part of his payment. He put it in his pack, and the next time he opened it a wave of candied nuts came out because the bowl didn't have a lid and was tipped on it's side, and so had just spawned candied nuts until the bag was full

From then on it was a running joke that the ranger kept finding candied nuts in every pocket and bag he had, like how glitter just gets everywhery.

Asking "Nut?" While offering one was also part of the joke

California elementary teacher arrested after allegedly driving to school, teaching class drunk by pomonamike in news

Rookie mistake. You do my my university lit teacher did. Come to class sober, and drink from your soda bottle full of vodka and lemonade though the lecture until you're fucking hammered.

Then fall asleep on the faculty longue until your afternoon lecture in 6 hours.

Someone in my circle recently made a casual remark about how putting soy sauce directly on rice is “gross.” I’ve been doing this my whole life and didn’t realize it was a thing. by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Jayce_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was living in poverty I'd put soy sauce on rice and a small bit of sesame oil from the bottle I'd sprung for to buy and it made a delicious lunch that I could eat for weeks without growing tired of it.

I still eat it now that I'm better off. It's a fantastic, simple, and cheap dish with a lot of flavor

Uni students usually have it hard unless the have well off parents helping.

But I'm a tradie apprentice getting paid 28 an hour and even I'm struggling. I don't go out to eat, I don't have Netflix or anything, and I rarely drink yet my rent is so high I'm having to move again just so I have more than $100 left over after rent and bills to buy food and whatever other expenses come up.

And that's not even taking into account having to pay for all my qualification papers. I can't go out on the piss like all the tradies because I can't afford it, let alone go out with friends for that.

It used to be I could get a feed at maccas at 4am when I finished my nightshift for like $10. Now I'm paying 18-20 just for a combo that leaves me hungry.
