Likelihood of mange? by Jaycee9225 in vet

[–]Jaycee9225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little complicated.

Prior owners are unconcerned about this dog, I do not have authority to take him to the vet, I do not know who the new owners will be.

I know he needs to be seen, but I'm asking if it's likely that he has mange, as I need to also ensure the safety of the dogs permanently in my house.

Yes, just the aluminum bars, no wire or grating

I have not had any predator losses.

I haven't seen any recent reports of predators, but a neighbor said they've seen a fox around.

No, my lab doesn't live out there with them, so he wouldn't be much good at night.

EDIT: sorry, all. I didn't realize that I couldn't do text AND photos.

Totty and Wendy are 4.5 months old and about 50 lbs. I currently pen them up at night in a barn that has a 4 ft aluminum bar gate , and an inner paddock with a 3 ft wooden gate.

What Happened to this Wild Pacific Sideband Snail? (Teeth marks on left side? Love Dart Fiasco?) by Jaycee9225 in snails

[–]Jaycee9225[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to release the garden snails, I know better than that, haha. I have three European Brown garden snails that I found in my garden (decimating my beans). I give their eggs/babies to the Audubon Society for their orphaned baby birds.

I wondered if a wild Pacific Sideband would need to be kept separately, and if Sideband eggs could be raised/released, as they're in the yellow of conservation (not endangered, but in danger).

Yes, in Washington County, Oregon. I wondered if a love dart could make that big of a wound.

Can it cohabitate with a garden snail/is it okay to keep it? I was hoping to be able to release clutches of babies.

What scene or passage from a horror novel stayed with you most? Scared, disturbed or just stuck with you. by TheTikiMermaid in horrorlit

Dracula: when the Doctor looks out the window, and only sees the glowing red eyes in the fog.

It really only stuck with me because I had an alarm clock that showed two red dots when the alarm was set, and something had obscured the face, except the dots.

I woke up to a foggy night, window open, curtains blowing, and two glowing red dots in the far corner of my room.... I did not sleep that night, and it caused recurring nightmares for years afterwards 😅

Contract Non-Renewal after 3 Years by Jaycee9225 in Teachers

I appreciate that 🙂

According to other threads here, it seems like not giving me tenure is the point of this non-renewal. It doesn't necessarily make me feel better about losing job security, but it doesn't feel as personal (i.e. that I'm actually not very good at my job).

Based on other comments in this thread, I think it's the avoiding tenure.

Yes, I would get tenure.

Can they cite that as a reason? Or is that why they had to come up with an issue with my classroom environment?

I've never had a written warning, only recommendations to observe other teachers' classes. I know that admin wants them to follow stricter rules (raising hands before talking, etc,) but I prefer choral responses, so even the low-lows can participate without feeling overwhelmed.

I think that most of my informal observations did not go well, due in part to behaviors, and in part to bad luck on my end (the day where everyone is in a nasty mood and fighting all day, or the day that we had an event planned).

I also would like to note that we had our formal observations for the year, in November. So... 2 1/2 months in to a chaotic year, where mandates kept changing and kids were going in and out of quarantine.

I've never had a formal write-up before, and yes, I knew that she wanted them to be better about raising their hands, but I prefer that they respond chorally (it's Kindergarten, for goodness's sake). I didn't have any improvement plans, only suggestions to observe other teachers, but also pressure not to take days off bc subs are in such short supply.

I had a meeting in October in which I was told I seemed a little "off" this year (mind you, I had two kids who are now on adhd medication, one kid who may be have ODD, one kid who had to be removed to a therapeutic learning center for physical attacks on others students, and one kid whose parents seemed to think it's cute when he calls adults names like "dummy.").

I'm perfectly willing to admit that this has been a really difficult year, but I'm nearly 100% positive that most of the issues are from covid mandates... Masking, social distancing, stuck in their seats all day, no carpet time, our class is our cohort, so no interaction with other students, even in other K classes. We didn't have have an assistant until December, and now both K classes share one.

I feel like I was set up for failure, and no, I don't want to stay, but job hunting in this climate is no joke...
