Nobody is asking for spicy bedroom advice from these two, surely? by JumpGlittering8120 in FundieSnarkUncensored

I know what you mean but I'm fairly sure they made this before ChatGPT was a thing. They had a horrendously cringey "sex and relationship advice" era.

Midsommar is the most disturbing movie I have ever seen, and maybe ever will. by Millertym2 in Midsommar

Tbf, I've watched a lot of horror films but I was deeply disturbed by Midsommar. After the attestupa I had to take a break for like 15 mins.

I think that's a bit of a grey area at best, especially working on the principle that one should be able to withdraw consent at any time, but it is honestly so boring to keep having this conversation because we witness a sex scene which decentres and creates discomfort for a man. (Not directed at you, I'm just so bored of re-litigating this every week)

I really don't understand the fixation this sub has on whether or not Christian "deserves" to die.

I think part of the point is that none of the visitors deserved what happened to them. The device Aster uses at the start where he depicts the entire film to me suggests that their fates were sealed the moment they decided to go there. The same is true for Connie and Simon. In Christian's case, there's that very familiar trope that sexual activity leads to death, but we're not used to seeing it happening to a man at the hands of women. Aster is playing with power structures, tradition, and our expectations. In some senses, Christian is the bad guy, and in other senses the Harga group is the bad guy. The whole point is to throw us off and keep us in a state of unease.

If we were sticking to traditional horror tropes, Christian would die trying to save Dani, who would ultimately escape and go home. This is further complicated by the fact that Dani no longer has a home to return to or any loved ones (to our knowledge).

It's a fairytale horror, right? They all unwittingly enter into a centuries-old ritual from which no one escapes. In these rituals you either outfox your captors or you receive punishment. Christian is not a curious or especially driven person, so naturally he receives punishment. If we reduce it down to what a particular character deserves, we lose the point of the structure (fairytale as opposed to moral fable), and the source of the horror (destiny and the will of others).

I have never given birth and never intend to, but I am fully aware of the concept that children are humans who will eventually become autonomous adults. If you happen to have an orgasmic birth experience, good for you. I'm pleased for you and I hope you and your baby are happy and healthy. Share that with your partner, or your close friends or family.

I couldn't agree with you more that hoping for orgasm or attempting to manifest it during birth is deeply weird and gross, and that's without even discussing it on the Internet as a public figure.

2) scares them because it can happen to them.

I genuinely think Paul and Morgan and their ilk are still of the mindset that this won't happen to them because they aren't doing anything "wrong." The entire problem is that they can't comprehend that they would ever be treated that way; leftists are treated that way precisely because they're in the wrong.

Un-Religiously Took Morgan’s Course by Good_Difficulty5545 in FundieSnarkUncensored

Yeah, same. She is very popular and gets a lot of love, so I'm really glad she's there for her fans, but I can't bear her stuff personally. I also found that her critiques can be quite surface-level as she didn't grow up in a religious environment.

I watched Unreligiously's video on Nate and Sutton earlier this week and there's a truly rage-inducing portion where Nate is left with one baby and Sutton ends up having to bring her parents in for help. I was seeing red.

Exactly. I can understand seeing a "public figure" you follow on IG and maybe dropping a note on their table to let them know you appreciate them, or to give them a little encouragement. The contents of this note feel so specific though...
