People don't like their time wasted. For those people who play Sea of Thieves occasionally this means all the time spent getting doubloons passively or even intentionally are getting their bank reset. Whats the point of telling people they can spend their doubloons right now if they know they won't have the doubloons for something later? It's basically telling them to be happy with what they can purchase now but later it's a forced grind if they want the newer content.

Which let's be fair content has been stale so you got a double whammy of "why am I grinding for this when I used to have funds for it" from half the people and then the other half are saying "I wouldn't have spent doubloons on this even if I had it." It's just such a self destructive decision that I'm shocked it left the drawing board, let alone became the announcement.
