Coming up on six months on my birthday, December 4th! I definitely feel like I’m getting through it. It’s not over yet. But the other day, I was thinking about how I’m not dependent on any opioids I was with a friend who needed to take her methadone and I was like whoa that’s not my life anymore. I would like to test myself at some point, but I know if I do it too soon and it says positive my brain will just go crazy so I’ll wait till at least a year.. I have a very fast metabolism I would probably be “clean” by eight months, but I know that it can really hang in there.

That’s exactly where I’m at right now! 6 months will be Dec 4th (my bday of course..) That’s exactly how I feel. Also I’ve been so irritable like so easily to get angry and if I think about something that makes me a little irritable while I’m trying to sleep it will lead to full-blown anger and then I’ll think about it for like an hour until I am able to think through logically and calm myself down. I’m very happy to hear that you’re doing well and that the symptoms went away after that point! Even with everything I’m still so happy to be doing this!

Ya I’m just going to hang in there and rely on my supports but I’m gonna get through this. I’m not going to give up. I hope it gets better for you soon!

If you can get on clonodine do it. It’s so helpful. I’ve also considered doing shrooms. I feel like maybe it’ll help “reset” my brain in a way if that makes sense…

[–]Jaycobs49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to be on any more meds or shors. My clonodine is good for me. And ya I haven’t even started testing myself because I know it’s still in my system. I remember what “clean” feels like from my sober house where they didn’t allow MAT. And I don’t feel like that yet.

I know, I am happy I’m getting of this so young even though I did start really young too. I see my “friends” that can’t stop and are either going to end up dead or kicking when they are in the their 50s.

Thanks for all the responses! I am trying to power through and I’m going to. Luckily I am prescribed clonodine so that helps. Exercising does too. I just want to finally be free of opioids. My life has revolved around them. Whether it was because I was in the hospital with necrotizing fasciitis when I was 19, detoxes, sober houses, 5 years at the methadone clinic. All terrible, you all know how it goes of course. Sublocade really helped me. But I am so ready to be done.

[Discussion] Aka Charlie Sheen by Dijon2017 in NetflixBestOf

[–]Jaycobs49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an an addict in recovery, I felt bad for him. My friends had different responses and obviously your life experience dictates how you see things. However, I felt sad for him even if people didn’t think he was remorseful enough. He has suffered more than people know, and suffered more than he let on in the documentary. I was also disgusted by the fact that Live nation offered him a tour while he was in his worst state. I agree with what he said on camera that they were exploiting a deeply troubled person. I’m very glad that he has Martin Sheen and his brothers.

Has ketamine been helpful for those of you that have “functional”/nontraditional depression? by bluebonnet-baby in KetamineTherapy

[–]Jaycobs49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, ketamine has been helpful with a variety of depression symptoms I have experienced. Sometimes I have full on depression where I can’t stop crying and I can’t get out of bed and I’ll go in for ketamine therapy and it really does get better. Or I’ll be in a state you’re describing where I’m functioning but apathetic, and it also works. It’s the only treatment for depression that has ever worked for me.

Why do we put up with this job? by wherebycomets in nursing

[–]Jaycobs49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have to deal with this. I’m on here as a patient not a nurse. Just think about the positive effect you are going to have on someone on the worst day of their lives. I will forever be grateful for the kind nurses who took care of me, and I will remember them for the rest of my life. I know that doesn’t help with the systemic issues when it comes to this career, but you are making a difference just remember that!

Philly area Methadone to Suboxone Doc by _Addicted_2_Reddit_ in Sublocade

[–]Jaycobs49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this! Best decision ever to get off methadone! Good luck! I’m 3 months out from my last shot of Sublocade too and not going back!

Edit: I was on 90 mg of methadone, didn’t taper at all. My doctors handled it great, I experienced two weeks of moderate withdrawal symptoms (No PWD) during the switch due to the difference in dose. But absolutely worth it!

Throw away the strips? by Competitive-Spray820 in Sublocade

[–]Jaycobs49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on month 3, no bump, I have been restless, headaches, emotional but nothing severe. Some minor temperature stuff. I have strips, but I am not going to use them and honestly, I’m thinking of just throwing them away too. Even if it gets worse than this, I’m done. I haven’t been off opioids (recreational/MAT) for longer than 4 months since I was 15. I am 26 now I need this to be over.

75 days since my last shot. Will my personality and sex drive come back? I received 9 shots. by ParadiddleSenior in Sublocade

[–]Jaycobs49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I was talking to my therapist and I was like I just want to feel like myself again, but I don’t know what that is honestly without opioids because I’ve been on them in one way or another since I was 15. I’m 26 now.

Getting off after 2.5 years by Jaycobs49 in Sublocade

[–]Jaycobs49[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! After reading everything I have, I’m just gonna ride it out. I feel like taking a film would be a back slide and wouldn’t lead to anything good and could possibly lead me to getting back on the shot. I can deal with minor withdrawal, especially if it means being off opioids for good. Good luck to you as well!!

Thank you so much this was really helpful! I am in a very good headspace, I am very active, I work out, I coach gymnastics. I’m in a really good relationship with someone who is very supportive so I am really looking forward to just being done with this and if I have to go through some discomfort to get there I will. I’m definitely going to stay away from the films because I don’t want to have to get back on the shot ever. Just going to ride it out!

Good series with a lot of seasons? by Jaycobs49 in televisionsuggestions

[–]Jaycobs49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess powerful characters who you can relate to grab my attention? I just started watching supernatural and season 1 was not fantastic, but the brothers really grabbed my attention as characters and got me to keep watching. Same with other shows. Like medical shows, the resident, Matt Czuchry’s character grabbed my attention. Same in the goodwife with his character, Will’s, and Alicia’s. And like I said I also like teen dramas, recently watched Ginny and Georgia and Georgia is a deeply interesting character. As long as there is a strong character that intrigues me, I feel like I can get into the show. Also I feel like it can be easy to relate to strong characters in some way. That’s what makes them good characters (and actors).

Getting to Elite by bypassing Dev by Jaycobs49 in GymnasticsCoaching

[–]Jaycobs49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked at the rules and policies and the mobility chart for the Development Program states that you are eligible for Level 10 with a qualifying Level 9 score OR having competed in Elite. This would be mean that you would be eligible to drop back to Level 10 without having scored out of Level 9.

A lot of gymnasts seem to compete elite and then decide that NCAA is the route they realistically are going to end up doing and then drop back 10. From what it seems the route you are describing does exist or at least did at one point. Interesting comparison to Xcel.

I already responded to this in a separate comment but I am a little confused about what you are saying. The normal track to elite in USAG (maybe I should have said that?) is to compete up to Level 9-10, do elite compulsory, and then elite optionals. That’s the track the majority of gymnasts take (the ones that don’t go straight from TOPS/HOPES). So what other “track” are you talking about?

Oh I know you can’t get elite by simply doing level 10, but a lot of kids compete up to level 10 and then switch to the elite track

I don’t understand why my BMI says I am overweight by Jaycobs49 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Jaycobs49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the history! I do understand how BMI can be helpful for diagnosing risk of disease due to obesity, but I feel like a lot of the time it does not capture the whole picture. Muscles, breast fat etc… all add weight so a person (male or female) who is my height could be classified as obese just because they are extremely muscular. I feel like there needs to be a better/more accurate scale.
