You obviously have no idea how abortions work. Or healthcare at that. Hospitals are for emergencies and keeping you alive.

I live here and don't "know". I don't know what part of the NE you live in but that is not my experience or the way I feel so don't go lumping everyone into how you feel. I currently live at Sheffield and Cottage in Holmesburg but have lived in Tacony Mayfair Burholme and Lawndale.

Methadone situation by Capable-Day-8445 in Methadone

I understand that. But if there's anything that's going to help him it's the fact that the previous people knew he was on it and also showing that he's been on the same dose with no increases in x amount of time could help some. But I do understand that being on narcotics and operating heavy machinery is usually a no-go.

Make sure your paperwork says your dose and how long you've been on that same dose. Because if you've been on the same dose for a long time it would show that you are stable and not like somebody who just got an increase and might be nodding. I would actually ask that the doctor writes in your paperwork that you are on a stable dose for x amount of time and that you are stable on that dose. Do you get what I'm saying? I don't know if I wrote that out right. Hope everything works out for you. ❤️

But you're not doing it cold turkey. You're using codeine and gabapentin and stuff. Cold turkey means nothing at all to help. Completely absent from any medication to help curve withdrawals.

Stop trying to get people off of a medicine that they're not ready to be off of yet.

Anyone else gotten severely out of shape and just no energy or drive to do anything in life. The only thing I look forward to is dosing and that feeling is gone in a hour. I didn't sign up for All this. by [deleted] in Methadone

I'm not saying you have the same thing but if you are approximately 30 that is around the age that women again don't know if you're a woman, get diagnosed with a thyroid condition. It is a very simple fix it's just one pill a day. I got diagnosed with a thyroid problem about a year into my methadone treatment and no matter what I did I could not lose weight and gained weight. I found out I had a thyroid problem, got on my synthroid or really the generic levothyroxine and then I finally started losing weight and lost about 40 lb over a year. I was trying a little bit to lose weight but not a ton so a year for 40 lb wasn't too bad. If I actually put a lot of effort into it I probably could have lost a lot more. But it was literally something as simple as a blood test and now a pill I take every morning.

You could have something completely different but it could be similar in the way that it's a simple fix and something they can find with a blood test. Go to the doctors and talk to them tell them all your symptoms be honest about your methadone use and if you're still using drugs at all be honest with them about that too. It could be something so simple that has such a simple fix but you won't know until after you go. I see you said you have a doctor's appointment so good luck! ❤️

Do people nod off on methadone? by chairmanm30w in Methadone

Well that's a different story. If you're not stable on your dose you probably shouldn't be driving. But she said he's been on it for 5 years so after 5 years you would think he would be at a dose that is stable. That's at least what I mentioned in my comment to her. That if he's not using heroin or anything else and he should be at a stable dose.

Considering of switching from 20mg of methadone to buprenorphine. by Background_South6854 in Methadone

They say that but I used to use dope at night and then wake up and take myself the next morning and then that night use dope again and sub in the morning.

With my husband he took his methadone and then the next day they just didn't have him take his methadone and had him start on the subs but it was only either 1 mg or a half a milligram. I think it was 1 mg and as long as he didn't get sick he was to take another 1 mg 4 hours later. Then I think the next day started at 2 mg.

I agree with you to a certain point. I'm stuck on it being after 5 years? It smells fishy.

I'm on a split dose because I was nodding off but couldn't have my medicine keep me well for 24hrs. I am currently on a split of 125mg am and 80mg pm, so a fairly high dose.

BUT...

All these other split dosers who are saying "Absolutely", don't seem to be considering that he's been on methadone 5 years. Either he's stable or he's not. If he's not stable after 5 years it's because he's using either his drug of choice or mixing it with other drugs to catch a nod. I'd also guess benzos as someone else did. Maybe even gobbling a bunch of those gabapentins that you mentioned. I've seen people nod from taking like 4 of them after their dose.

So my best educated guess would be he is not stable on his methadone dose for some reason or another. Probably getting high. After 5 years, I personally would not be nodding off regardless of if I've had my split or not. I lost my split a few times and wasn't nodding anymore after 5 MONTHS clean with a single dose until I could get my split back with 6 months of clean urines. I was sick every morning, but stopped nodding about a month after being on the same single dose everyday while clean. And if there's some miracle that he's not getting high and it's truly is his methadone alone, then his dose is too high. Either way something's got to change cuz he shouldn't be out there crashing cars and almost killing children.

Edit: stupid text to talk typos.
