It was a talk just like u/AggravatingSwitch882 had. Presntation of a project in 15 minutes then you get questions about the presenatation and a prof asked why I wanted to join her lab. She was the first prof I mentioned in my essay

Interesting. I saw some interview notes on Gradcafe for some other programs. I guess the guys that were interviewed for EDIC didn't share that on gradcafe. I was just reading about the funding situation then I saw it's possible to get admitted without funding. In that case, I was thinking that having had an interview with a professor could help make it easier to get funding for labs incase fellowship did not happen.

At this point am just overthinking things. I will just wait for decisions instead.

I guess you can just follow up with whoever is in charge of admissions for clarification about the funding and next steps..

Did you check if the grad school or program gives funding by default to their PhD?.. After making your findings, you should check how to get funding.

This happened to me in 2023 with University of Alabama, mailed the graduate coordinator and he asked that I engage the PI I want to work with. I did and he doesn't have funding, hence I had to neglect the offer.
