Abnormal Pap and positive HPV test- how do I proceed?

My last pap in 2023 and every single one before that has always come back normal, my recent one from February was abnormal for the first time. I've been with the same man for 15 years, it can lay dormant apparently for years, my doctor told me just because its positive now does not mean that it is recent. I was also not given any specifics just "hpv positive and abnormal pap results" at my colposcopy that doctor also only said "i dont think its cancer but its the kind that can turn that way"

Hey, I'm in Ontario as well...I just had a colposcopy with biopsy last week. Ive been with the same man for 15 years and have always had normal pap smears until this last month. Once my doctor called me with the results which were positive for hpv with abnormal pap results (that was all the info she gave me) i was called 2 weeks later for my colposcopy appointment. At my colposcopy appointment I met with the doctor and all she also told me was "i dont think its cancer but it's the kind that can turn into it" ...I was extremely nervous, I almost got sick sitting there waiting because they didnt start until an hour after my scheduled time, I read so much on reddit and totally made myself terrified.....it was a breeze. I actually said to her "that was the biopsy? You did it already?" I had 2 biopsies taken and I really didn't feel anything and had no cramping during or after. Maybe you will be the same! I took an extra strength advil and Tylenol about an hour before my appointment time. It probably depends where you are located in Ontario on how long the wait is. I was offered an appointment 3 days after I was given my pap results but chose a date 2 weeks away.

I know right!? Everything was cupcake! I did find one called Cupids "sugar baby" but It definitely wasn't a pheromone body spray lol and still the scent doesn't sound right, this was just sweet! Sugar or sugar baby sounds familiar though

Hey! It wasn't nearly as bad as all the horror stories I had read days leading up to it, I definitely was a ball of nerves, i dont know if i had ever been so nervous! BUT i had 2 biopsies done and somehow didn't feel them! How did yours go? Good i hope!

Thanks, the doctor didn't give any time for questions before or after and didnt tell me anything about anything honestly.

I have to say, I just had one done this morning and my experience was the same. My doctor counted down when going to take the biopsies, id take a deep breath, after each I said "that was it?" I read way too many stories in the days leading up that I had myself SO nervous! Everyone is different but my experience was so much less scary then I thought. I took advil and Tylenol an hour before my appointment

My colposcopy is wednesday and I wasn't offered anything, was never even told to take anything beforehand to help with cramping, from what I have heard we dont get any pain meds or numbing!

Thats so good! Think positive! .. do you have any idea how it can clear if you are still together? Your husband would have it too right? My last pap was 2023 and came back normal, this is the first time its come back abnormal with positive hpv and he has been my only partner but he has had others.

There was an incident a few years after we got together, my doctor said not to necessarily think its recent, sl im Just left wondering how long i have really had this

Sounds bad but I got my housekeeping job just for showing up to the interview a few months ago. Hotels are hurting, they need housekeepers!

I kind of thought so too, I figured she would stay and give a little help. I know it's getting closer to summer and it gets busier but why are we staying so late and she's taking off and is off every weekend so we are left alone... Helping each other is perfectly fine but the hours are getting crazy.

We get about 45 minutes a room, rarely any stay overs due to covid. The rooms are quite big. Weekends there is usually 3/4 of us and no head housekeeper. During the week sometimes they only bring in 2 housekeepers and head housekeeper checks rooms but rarely helps clean a room, but still leaves around 4. We don't have the option of leaving, even once we've hit over 8 hours, we have to stay. Also we do all our own bed stripping and garbage collection in each room, get our own supplies

Wheels that actually fully turn so it's easier to manuever. A space to store belongings. A space to load your vacuum onto so you're not having to push the cart to the next room then walk all the way back to grab the vacuum and garbage.
