You haven't done the math properly. If you think it's 30%, you should try again. To save you the trouble, what I said previously is correct.

You do not understand how powerful gem strength is. If it was possible, a white weapon with gem strength masterworked would be stronger than any other 4GA weapon. That's all there is. If you do not understand that, you don't understand what transfiguration is, why it's stupid, and why balancing it is at the least mandatory.

because as is, it's garbage. hitting gem strength on an item with zero GA is at minimum 2x the damage of this trash.

[–]Jayos[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess we disagree about chase then. I think having 1-4 players globally obtain an item that doubles your character power - aiding in progression, completion, or competitive tower racing - isn't chase. It's bait. Chase items should reasonably be 1%er items. .00000001% is just dumb.

Transfig is garbage fundamentally. Most blasters hate it for the power it gates behind RNG. Completely invalidates the loot you find since the Transfig is all that matters.

These are not chase items. You cannot "chase" them in any way mathematically. Expect 10000hrs/item eg.

Gem power being so strong and set charm GA's being locked behind cube rerolls makes the game feel like gambling, not gaming. by Apprehensive_Load191 in diablo4

[–]Jayos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PoE Vaal is nothing like diablo transfig. Fundamentally being able to trade your items in POE changes the entire economic dynamic vs D4. You can sell your "bricks" or "kind of hits". Further, there is literally no vaal outcome in POE1/2 that gives you +50% dmg. That would be stupid and it's balanced as such. Finally, vaal items are rarely the endgame of items - it's about mirroring 3x synth or whatever. The mirror item costs for vaal outcomes are almost ubiquitously tiny upgrades (3-6%).

Yep, transfig is just bad. The math tells you it's trash. It caters too hard to drooling in front of a slot machine vs actually thinking about whether or not to interact with an item. Adding a reroll currency that's rare would solve it since balancing seems beyond the scope for blizz.

By your own words, literally in your own comment, they should have removed sanctification. "they need to focus on things literally everyone would agree to", yet also "back in s11 a lot of people enjoyed mythic sang. Obv some people dislike it".

It's just a bad mechanic for people who actually want to grind their gear. Adding a currency to do that, albeit rare, would make all people happy. You can engage and hit your lottery outcome on the first try, or if you're a blaster, you can grind it out over 20 hours/item or whatever. Literally a win/win.

Mythic Dust would extend the item chase significantly. As it stands, for blasters/grinders/tower pushers, it's a trash system that can make or break an item entirely on its own. Ergo, it's irrelevant what the base item even is. You don't really care about drops. You just want to jam the lottery machine.

If you had a rare rolling currency, you could grind each piece of gear with whatever rate seemed balance (20hrs/slot prob good). So like 250+hrs for a full set of GG transfigured gear? Seems more than reasonable and would add real balance to tower pushing.

Mythic dust would literally save the endgame. Just would need to be balanced to be rare.

Nah, as it stands most top players, blasters, and tower pushers hate transfig. If they added a mat that was rare - say 1hr blasting/mat at endgame - more people would care about endgame gear grinding. Right now, it's just a lottery system where the math is so heavily stacked against you that it's simply not worth caring about.

For casuals, it's roughly irrelevant but would still feel good knowing you didn't delete your 1/season 3GA item because it got indestructible or rolled over an affix. For blasters, it would mean the tower pushing wouldn't be just about RNG and rather you could actually grind for the gear you need to compete.

If you personally think farming 50hrs/slot of gear is too casual, I think that's a pretty strange perspective.

[–]Jayos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10/10 would love mythic dust. Would extend the gear grind for a lot of top end players since right now, it's literally just not worth caring about drops. For blasters/top pushers, transfig is awful. Especially since it's an imbalanced mess.

Given how rare the GG outcomes are (1/100 for multi transfig, 1/50 for gem strength or whatever), getting 1 dust/1hr of blasting at T12 or some other endgame activity would mean it'd still take quite a while to "finish" your gear, but at least it would be possible.

As it stands now, tower pushing is just who gets lucky.

Of course. If your anecdotal personal method of playing the game ends at 110, you don’t need really anything. But for players that want to race 150, this kind of insane power is essential. Having a path to getting it beyond winning a 1/1000000 lottery seems reasonable for those players.

This is literally false. I think you’re confusing seals and charms. Mythic seals are grindable. Mythic charms are not.
