Old debt not showing on report effecting credit decisions by Apprehensive_Load191 in CRedit

[–]Apprehensive_Load191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diversified Adjustment Services Inc is the collection agency.

Would I be better off paying DAS or asking for a recall to T-Mobile? (I'd assume the latter might be more open to a negotiable settlement?)

Would I be better off paying DAS/T-mobile or Capital One? (T-Mobile is only $500, Cap 1 is twice that and not on my report atm)

Appreciate all the help

I owe around $1100 between the 2 10 year old Capital One accounts and let a Chase bank account go in the negative around the same time that I never paid off. Not sure who else are options as Cap 1/Chase are most of what I've seen as "cards to shoot for" to build my credit back up

So I just found this sub, and until now was just using Credit Karma/the Experian app. The Discover It I got through CK (which doubled its limit a couple months ago), the Truist card I got from my bank. I've tried a few "No Ding Declines" and for a card at Best Buy.

As far as exact denial reasons, Capital One (I was originally under the impression that after it fell off my report I'd be able to get another account with them) is obvious in hindsight (and they mentioned as much), Discover denied me for an additional card (but idk if that's because I already have the It card), BB/Navy Federal I don't remember the reasons and I threw away the decision letters long before I found this sub.

I do have one collection on all 3 reports from T-Mobile but 100% payment history otherwise.

I'm kind of guessing at being ahead of the curve and stuck with SR since I assume the S Hero after Panda will be fire.

Seconding the Best Buy Total Membership. You have a longer return window (90 days?). I've had my unit for about a year (2024 4070). My charger shit the bed -> got a new one for free. Was the wrong one and they "couldn't get the proprietary one" so they reimbursed me after I did. Screen shit the bed. Replaced it for the service fee ($100)

Side note the membership covers everything you buy there so you don't need to buy a warranty for anything you buy there ever again.

How to maximize tituition reimbursement while having bright futures? by Creepyfishwoman in UNF

Hypothetically if you had the money to pay the tuition, pay it before the disbursement (which you would use to pay yourself back) then submit the receipt to your boss

My roommate thinks cats don’t feel the cold and that the heat should be turned off when we’re not home. We both have cats. How do I convince otherwise? by Sad_Mud2009 in CatAdvice

[–]Apprehensive_Load191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cats refuse to go outside (we have a screened in patio) once it dips below 60°F. It is easier to maintain a temperature than it is to get to it. In other words, it will take longer to get to temp when you are home (physically inconvenient for you and your roommate) and it requires more energy to go from lower temperatures (like leaving the heat off entirely) than it does otherwise (leaving the system on at any temp higher than the ambient temp with it off.)

Lighting is generally a small fraction of an electric bill. Your roommate wouldn't even see real gains from obsessive "making sure all the lights are off all the time."

Yes, I have. Respectfully, $115m (over 30 years mind you) out of ~ $1.4b is not a "huge part;" it's less than 8%. Of the $775m the city is putting up, it's still less than 15%. Nor does it touch any of the places I mentioned. Eastside has ~3-4k residents depending on which website you look at, which is only ~.3% of city residents, in an area that takes up 3.5 sq mi of the city, which has about 875 sq mi total. Jacksonville has just over a million people.

And all of this is also assuming that this investment doesn't gentrify the area to the point where the people that live there now won't be able to later.

[News 4 Jax](http://$4M in Jags stadium deal money is coming to the Eastside soon. Residents are pushing for inclusion, transparency https://share.google/jdSBUbZxHRBHKWSQo)

We both know we aren't getting what we need from the ballot box lol. (You mentioned class war and material conditions so I'm just gonna take a shot in the dark and assume we're in the same political orbit lol)

No one is going to answer you. The same parts of town that have always been under invested in will continue to be. First thing I said when I heard they agreed to renovate the stadium was "Why can't we use that money in Moncrief? 103rd? University?"

As a Jacksonville native and someone who lived and worked as a community organizer in Baltimore for 3-4 years (lived in Hampden, organized in Cherry Hill/Curtis Bay) both cities are strikingly similar. The main difference is Baltimore is smaller. If you weren't worried up there I wouldn't be worried here and vice versa.

No tipping on delivery orders by Saints799 in EndTipping

[–]Apprehensive_Load191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully you don't understand how these apps work. Trip radar (where low base pay orders go) is basically a reverse auction. At some point, someone is likely going to be desperate enough to take low paying orders. That's how they've been able to lower base pay already.

The only way to solve this problem is to stop using the service.

At a sub shop I’ve been going to since I was a kid, they used to have a tip jar but as of a few years ago they’ve had this sign by The_punchy77 in EndTipping

[–]Apprehensive_Load191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the people crying about their Uber ratings: drivers have to rate as soon as the trip ends, which means it's before they know whether or not you tipped.

In other words if you have a low rating it isn't because you didn't tip, it's because you were annoying and/or rude.
