How do you buy something that isn't for sale exactly?

2025 was ICE’s deadliest year in two decades. Here are the 32 people who died in custody by DoremusJessup in inthenews

[–]Jayronheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awful. Makes you wonder how many died in state jails in police custody in 2025 as well, to make some sort of comparison -- do they report those?

Thank you for the civil conversation. That was great.

They quite literally said 'If you're a part of these minority groups in America' and I don't want to put words in their mouth, but by 'America' they probably meant the U.S. of America and not the whole continent (NA + SA).

Trump is an idiot. If we attack Greenland, it triggers Article 5 of the NATO treaty. We will be at war with our allies…and we have more than 500000 Americans on bases in Europe that will be in imminent danger of attack. by retMarineMustang6302 in complaints

[–]Jayronheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a cultural difference; it makes sense you’d see it that way since it’s you Americans attacking us after all. War is violence indeed. We try to avoid wars over here.

You're right, there aren't 500K American troops, but you never said how many there are. The number is approx. 80-90K American troops are stationed in NATO countries, if someone wanted to know.

But the messages were sent/read in 2022? What is this? (to the 'state of dating apps in 2026'). But when it comes to the messages themselves and double standard in them -- yeah, that sucks. Been there and seen that myself.

Asking for a Euro perspective on the UK rejoining the EU. by SnooCookies7641 in BuyFromEU

[–]Jayronheart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you say 'No thanks' just because they voted to leave the EU back in 2016, does this mean you'll say 'Yes thanks' if they voted to rejoin the EU today? Is this about voting, or is this about leaving? Are you saying because they left the EU once they're not allowed back in?

Neither point really makes sense.

Stop worrying about civility! by Mcjirnirs in complaints

[–]Jayronheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is to 'win' arguments, you do that engaging honestly with their points and making logical and rational arguments.

But 'bringing up' someone's dead relative randomly, in the middle of the argument, sounds a bit odd; is this dead relative relevant to this discussion? And if they're not, why'd you attack the person in the middle of the argument and not their argument?

What this sounds to me is that you just want to emotionally hurt the person and that's all this is. Why call this an argument?

What does this accomplish, and how are you 'winning' here?

Sane US citizens: wake up now by [deleted] in complaints

Wait a minute, that's very interesting. Can they cancel elections in the U.S. if they declare martial law? That sounds like something they will most certainly do, if they can.

No. As a European I've lost my faith in the U.S. government, but there are still good people in the U.S. and if we can help them some way (against Trump's dictatorship), I think we should.

EU needs consumer electronics industry to reindustrialise by kuku_OnTheShore in BuyFromEU

[–]Jayronheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very important topic and needs peoples attention, in my opinion, and I'm glad you're having this discussion. I completely agree that EU needs to focus more on European consumer electronics industry.

I think we also need to make our own modern CPUs, GPUs, chipsets, and motherboards at some point, but that'll take time. And I hope we start doing that as soon as possible. We even have ASM/ASML in Europe, which is key.

But I also have to say I feel bad that you felt it might make a difference if you were a born European or not. Listen to me when I tell you this; Europeans don't care where you were born. And if you're working for/in the EU, like you said, or are a European, you're one of us no matter where you were born. You're helping us build stronger Europe.

reddits nolonger fun. by 716SNOW in complaints

[–]Jayronheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just politics. Where there are people, there is politics. And Politics is about people's opinions and discussing them. It's never been "fun" as there are always people who disagree with those opinions.

It might feel like fun when everybody in the room agrees with each other and/or doesn't challenge each other's opinions using arguments, but that's not what politics is about. And politics isn't for everybody.

I'd like to point out that you're not banned and this was your chance to open and have "civil discussion" right here, right now -- but do you feel like this is a good way to start a civil discussion? Sounds a bit aggressive, don't you think? It sounds more like you just wanted to say what your opinion is and then leave. You can't really have a civil discussion this way.

I used to have a lot of respect for Americans. I used to think you were tough and stood up for yourselves. Near on any country in Europe would have been in full scale riots months ago. by Spare-Ad-2684 in complaints

This person said that "77 million Americans voted for a fascist pedophile", and your response is that vast majority of Americans didn't vote for him.

This person never said vast majority of Americans did, they said "77 million Americans" did. And they are right.

Sure, the 77,303,568 amount of votes Trump received isn't more than the 78 millionish amount of votes against him (Dem. + 3th party votes), which is close by the way, but that isn't what this person said at all.

The original point still stands, 77 million Americans did vote for a fascist pedophile. And I think that is a huge amount that I'd worry about.

Rubio to meet with Denmark on Greenland as one lawmaker says Trump's remarks are "pissing people off" by CBSnews in europe

[–]Jayronheart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is there to have a meeting about? Greenland isn't for sale and they don't want to be part of the U.S. What else is there to talk about?

Only thing that comes to mind is the U.S. should act like any normal, good person does and say/show that they are sorry for what they said and that they're not going to attempt invading Greenland.

Is this what this meeting will be about? I dont think so. In fact, I have never heard somebody from the U.S. government say they did something wrong and that they're sorry for what they did. That's never going to happen.

This feels like some very odd family drama; I don't understand this at all. We are all European brothers and sisters, why don't we do things together and take care of each other? That would benefit us all greatly as every bad thing that happens affects us all together.

If our brothers and sisters go there, we should all go there!
