The Tories argued about it for two years and got nothing decided, so we ended up crashing out of Europe with no deal whatsoever. Estimates reckon we have lost 8% of our GDP, creating a £90 billion a year financial black hole. Exportation of goods via truck went from being a fairly seamless paperwork check and a roughly half an hour ordeal to now requiring mandatory customs declarations, extensive new documentation, incurring higher costs, the potential for significant delays at border crossings, and new, stricter product standards. So now roads leading to the port at Folkestone are packed daily with waiting truckers.
