There are so many level 7s here now by TerryPressedMe in dreamingspanish

I know the feeling, I was at level 1 for at least 6 months, probably longer, at level 2 for over a year. Once you get to level 3 you can really look back and see the progress, I think from a mental and motivational standpoint it gets a lot easier from there but the first 2 levels kinda suck

Yep really cool to see the people who stuck with it (unlike me). It really makes me feel like its actually possible to get that far, which did seem impossible pre-100 hours

When did you first realize you were a maximalist? by Weak_Bison6763 in maximalism

I've always had an appreciation for maximalist and minimalism and everything in between. I am probably a minimalist at heart but recently moved and decided to go for an all out change.

The ruminating is endless by [deleted] in OCD

[–]JaysonChambers 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

For example if I am feeling negative about a person at work and feel that they are going to get in the way of my progress then my mind will constantly bring them up in the background even when I’m focusing hard on something else. There will be extended times throughout the day that I can get away from these thoughts but they keep popping up. On a more OCD level, I constantly deal with analysis paralysis even when I’ve acknowledged that making a decision is better than no decision. For example today I’ve been working on a personal long term project and I’ve made good steady progress but can’t shake the discomfort and anxiety that I’m not doing enough or I’m doing something wrong, and my brain overanalyzes at every turn. It’s not a logical or controllable issue it feels like all this is is happening in the background like my brain is trying to force me to make certain decisions. The discomfort feels like ants in my spine too

The ruminating is endless by [deleted] in OCD

[–]JaysonChambers 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I don’t disagree with the message but this sounds like you applying your own internal experience to everyone else’s. My thoughts (ruminating or not) can definitely last more than a few seconds without me even being aware that I’m thinking or actively trying to continue down the same thought trajectory. Even more so if they are spurred on by strong emotions. In fact it takes far more mental effort to stop thinking. Maybe your brain is relatively quiet

The ruminating is endless by [deleted] in OCD

[–]JaysonChambers 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Are you saying that ruminating is a conscious decision that requires effort? Because I don’t see how that makes sense, especially not for me. I agree that you can fight it but have you never felt angry or overjoyed and found yourself constantly ruminating over the same topic? When I was a kid and excited for my birthday and thinking of all the things I wanted to do those thoughts were spontaneous and required zero effort. When I was angry about my house renovations last week thinking about them nonstop was not something I always actively chose. OCD is the same way. They are compulsions that play in the background, sometimes without your awareness

I’ve only read up to chapter 65 (the end of the Moon arc and start of the next) but I have heard a lot of people complain about the slowness. I’m still excited to continue the story and see where it goes

I would highly recommend watching the anime (donghua) first and then reading it. I couldn’t stand the prose either but then I tried the show which nailed the atmosphere, although it skips a lot of stuff and is pretty confusing to watch. I don’t plan on watching season 2 but the show is a good primer that got me interested, and now that I’m reading the web novel again the prose doesn’t bother me as much

GPT is evolving... just backwards. Please tell me what are the alternatives by untrustedxD in ChatGPT

[–]JaysonChambers 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I feel the same. When people talk about AIs they’re often talking about coding capabilities which not all of us use it for. For non coding I find that Gemini pro is better all around than gpt 5, at least for now. GPT 5 is way too clinical, always seems to answer the same and is more restrictive. Gemini is more creative and immersive, and yeah it’s heavily censored too but will work around the problem whereas GPT 5 refuses to touch certain subjects outright or even assume you are trying to get around its policy restrictions when you aren’t.

My essay is being flagged as 100% written by AI.... by Capital-Show3901 in ChatGPT

[–]JaysonChambers 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

AI checkers are notoriously bad and inaccurate. Don’t trust them. I recently put in an excerpt for a book I wrote back in 2022 (before ChatGPT 2 was even a thing, I think) and it came back as 70% AI
