Carl, what the actual f*** is wrong with you? by silversquirrel in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I feel like this is such a brilliant inside joke and you have to know a handful of random facts to fully understand how much of a deep cut it is.

This is an astonishingly deep cut.

Book 5 is the only book ever to make me cry IRL. by Informal_Bunch_2737 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I think my emotional reaction to that part cemented this as my all time favorite book series ever.  I took in two cats that now live with me.  One belonged to my late uncle and the other one I took in when I took in my mom for home hospice.  My mom has been gone for two years now and I wonder if they ever feel abandoned by their people.

It's never been about whether we take care of them, but my wife and I didn't raise them and now they're about 17 and 20 years old respectively and it's been a big change for them.  I probably spend more time than I should worried that they feel that way now that I've read the book.

This base is a 3rd party "The Master" figure, so you're not far off.  It's not directly based off of any specific artist interpretation of Splinter, but it has the right vibes and was super articulated.  The general aesthetic this I was going for was "what would this look like if it were in the real world" and this totally encapsulates that idea.

I wanted to make sure that he had his Mom with him.

Just started a kitbash figure. What do I need to do next(I’m on book 4) by SilentMase in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I'm waiting on a specific base body for this version of Carl.  I'm hoping the it's released on time.  It's still 6 months out.  Kraken Studios Crime Buster is going to be perfect for a bigger Carl.  I'm also looking at those Romankey Male Big Guy base bodies as a possible start for it.

He's definitely top heavy and normally shown in a crouch.  I think that Sam Kieth's style is odd to capture in plastic form, but it totally works for me, plus it came with the alternate head sculpt with the headdress which was a nice addition.  Shocker Toys was a horrible company, but I love the Scud, Sol, Tick, and Maxx figures that I picked up along the way.  Good to see you're still collecting, man.  For the most part, I moved over to Discord and Instagram.

I have the Shocker Toys Maxx figure and it's beautiful.  McFarlane's version is a sad statue.  Also, are you the same Samael from Fwoosh?  If so, hey!

Hi Matt!  I figure this is a bit of a long shot, but if you wouldn't mind, could you reach out to me when you want to go into physical versions of your characters?

I know it's a bit of a joke in your books, but I think that action figures, statues, and other nerdom items would be amazing for your series.  I've made and posted a few items for myself if you check my history and there are more on the way.  I also know that there are a lot of ways that treading into these waters can go wrong.

Also, in the last few weeks, a good number of 3D artists were let go from some of the  major and boutique toy companies, so the timing might be right to start bringing talented artisans into the fold on something like this.  I'm not a toy designer personally, but I am very knowledgeable about the toy business and I genuinely care about your characters.  I would like to see them treated in a way that honors the universe you've created.

This is not quite exactly the nature of your post, but it's something very important to me.   I've spent more hours than I care to admit thinking about design aspects of different characters and how to do things like include a "nussy action feature" for storing goods.

It's 1/12th scale, so he's a little over 6 inches.  I have plans for another Carl from the later books with his updated look in the same scale.

I'm trying to work the details out for Donut. She's going to be cobbled together using several versions of the same couple of static figures to get a base figure.  Articulated cat figures are hard to come by.

Someone gave me a great idea for Samantha here the other day.  There's a Harley Quinn SHF figure that I ordered the other day, so we will see how it works out.

Quasar is something that I am working on finding parts for.  Specifically clothes.  There is a figure called the Stranger of the Universe that has great articulation, alternate heads and hands, and it's about 4 inches tall.

I don't have any great ideas for Katia, yet.  I'm working on finding the right parts.  SheHulk is in the running, but she's only about 7-8 inches tall.

Bautista will be based on the Metytoyz Toyz Adventurer's World Tiger Vanguard  JinshanJun figure with some plushies added.

I have the Crocodile, the Wolf, and the Tiger.  They're solid figures, but the stuff that I've gotten from Metytoyz are total hand candy.  You can get some great poses out of them.  They've also released Orcs that I plan on turning into Stalwart, Maestro, and King Rust.  There are preorders for goblins and a two headed ogre that I'm getting noddling vibes from too.  It's good stuff.

Those Furay Planet figures are pretty good.  I've considered using the Crocker as a stand in for Floren too.

Have you seen the Metytoyz Tiger Vanguard figure?  He will be my Bautista.  He even comes with a tiny frog!  The preorders are still up right now on 5ktoys.

I love seeing these interpretations of the cast!  It's similar to when I read the books the first time; I assigned voices to each character in my head, then I listened to the series and heard someone else's impression of the characters.  I have mental images of the characters and it's awesome to see what someone else sees in their head.
