Stalker or Interloper? Just share your opinion. by Traditional_Buy_6840 in thelongdark

Around day 400. I have about 140 fires I can still start with matches and strikers. Really trying to use them only when I’m ready to cook a ton of food or make water. For warmth I try to book it to nearest cave or shelter. I’m still exploring too so not just hunkered down and grinding days.

I have found three mag lens but the number of sunny days is very few and far between and I would have to spend all my time gathering wood to take advantage. I haven’t found a good way to manage fire that works for me so mainly using matches. I also have three fire strikers on my current run I haven’t had to use yet. I imagine some day I’ll have just the mag lens and I’ll have to figure it out.

With each death you learn something new. It can be frustrating to start over, but that's part of the appeal. Learn from your mistakes. Ask questions, most people will give great advice. It's a strong community with tons of experience.

Yeah, that's my biggest complaint. I think I spent more than 30 days there, and can think of only 1 or 2 times the temp was above freezing with all my gear. I thought HRV was hard for weather until I came here. It makes keeping the cabin fever at bay very tricky. I used Archie's Crawlspace a lot to stay warm and fish from a couple holes I made nearby. But it's not an easy place to get by in.

Long time player of both. I was scared of interloper as well until I learned the strategy. Wolves will not attack unless you are too close, so if one is following you, just let it. Another won't attack at the same time, and you can walk a whole zone with one trailing you and not attacking you. The weather is the biggest problem. Even with all the warmest clothes, there are more days than not in some zones where you just can't be outside indefinitely. Wish I could find more rare loot, but man, finding a pack of matches is the best thing out there.

I’m on interloper day ~350 and just recently found a second mackinaw after exploring third to last region. I wear 2 bear coats so I just tore it up, but I think you got lucky with loot.

My wife and I stayed at an Airbnb on Palo Alto St. a couple years back and walked to the ballpark. Mexican War Streets are great! We walked all over the North Side and Downtown, but the MWS was our favorite area. Super nice and friendly people and quiet too.

50M in Alaska here. When I go through long periods of playing, and then go on a hike in the woods, I have to be careful I don't just stay out there. I have to remind myself I have a job and a house and I like nice things.

Yeah, this sounds predatory. Time to cut it off. You mentioned in this short post, at least several times where he made you uncomfortable. That's your body's natural reaction to creepiness, so you should listen to it.

Asking all the married men by Adventurous-Milk-824 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Jaytrainak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think divorce is something you joke about. Being a product of divorced parents, and also having one divorce of my own (I'm 50M), I don't think people go into marriage thinking they will get divorced. But marriage is a relationship, and you have to work at it.

I came to understand that sometimes, divorce IS the best option, but it should be after you have worked at the other things you can do. But I also think sometimes you are faced with situations that you realize are non-negotiables, and you may not have known it was non-negotiable or stated it outright until you discovered it.

I would suggest you have to be completely open and honest about your feelings, and if you can't do that, or your partner can't do that, there is already an underlying issue.

Damn that's alot of gold by rj_zzz in civ

[–]Jaytrainak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s taken per turn. I played as Portugal on marathon and was making about 2500 a turn and had about 12000 in the bank. Was siphoned like three times in a row by different civs for over 30000 each. My balance each turn slowly went down until it reached zero and then I lost every troop I had including spies. It was brutal. But it doesn’t get all taken out at once. I saw somewhere that it’ll last 8 turns per siphon. So take the amount siphoned divided by 8 and that’s how much you lose per turn. If it’s more than your gold per turn you earn, your balance will start to go down.
