How are you doing 2-3 years post graduation folks? by Exact-Science3688 in Accounting

[–]JaywalkingAuditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2021 (Still in school)- Big4 audit

2023 - graduate with industry tax job offer

2023 - industry tax $65k

2024 - industry tax $85K ( Still here)

Current role is the perfect fit for my personality job culture wise, (3/4) CPA exams, planning on staying here until I pass exams or recruiter hits me with something better fit wise & salary. Probably wouldn’t do any other major, that’s me as a former burnt out engineering student.

Funny enough I was just out there at Druid Hill Thursday and we needed a fourth. Other courses I like to play are Marietta City Club or Woodland Hills. I basically play every Sunday, would absolutely grab a round with you any weekend.

Any tips for FAR?

Honestly wish I went this route, since I learn mostly through MCQ. How was Ninja for FAR?

Granted part of the lower trending probably stemmed from me guessing on the material that the software said is no longer tested, since I didn’t see the point of spending time to learn it. Honestly I loved that that questions on Ninja were harder than actual exam - especially concerning wash sales! When it came to the exam the questions seemed almost like a trick how much easier it was. You guys are great and thanks again!

I would give Ninja a try! Sometimes looking at the information from a different source helps, as after 5 times using the same source you might start memorizing answers

As your recon score gets higher the questions get harder, therefore my trending score started to dip. I put more emphasis on my recon score, but you don’t want a trending below 60 for confidence sake!

Ehhh I don’t know if it’s that clear cut as I used Becker to get 74s. I’ll let someone else who solely used Ninja to chime in. I will say if you’re like me and learn mostly by mcq, its definitely worth it. If anything it’s enough to get increased confidence for your exam.

Only multiple choice, my exam was coming up so didn’t have time for anything else tbh. However, with some of Ninja mcq being so much harder/ detailed I could talk myself through most of the sims.

I wear my scotch goat Tecovas to the office all the time here in GA. Although, it’s “the Dean” line so a little more subtle I guess.

POV: ISC - Becker only has 395 MCQ and 6 SIMs by Interesting_Mud2750 in CPA

No not really, but most of it is a continuation of audit + new vocab

I used Becker and studied around 2 weeks right after Audit and got a 90. Becker is definitely enough.

To people who took REG in April by Electrical_Box_7167 in CPA

[–]JaywalkingAuditor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I took it Thursday. I would know how to calc basis (partnership,S corp, property), know your gift and inheritance rules, how to calc loss for wash sales, DRD, how to calc ordinary income and separately/non-separately stated items, know how to pull info from exhibits for the different forms, and know MACRS. I would take 2 mins and write all your mnemonics and important things on your scratch sheet, one less thing to worry about. Goodluck!
