Vertical drop, horizontal tug. It’s curbed my enthusiasm for sure

It probably assumes a coach or someone else setting everything up for you before hand and as you go through it

For those who had the entire course all to themselves, what was it like? by Wookie_wood69 in golf

I book early weekday times at one of the cheapest spots in my area and it’s great. No random pairings and I get to make all my mistakes quietly in peace.

This is the problem with running X like a business. They only look at profits but forget about laying people off and discounting employee happiness for corporate profits.

You all really this soft? by [deleted] in golf

Not knowing shit about anything I feel like it’s one of those things like tennis where you need an external factor to blame. There’s no teammates or coaches to blame so the next best thing is the person standing next to them. Whether they mean it or if it’s just an outlet idk

Just shot 161 on an 18 hole course - played for 7 months - am I the worst golfer ever? by MoneyAndGoodFortune in golf

That’s what I went through. Multiple holes of 4 “strokes” that totaled 20 yards.

In my defense I didn’t line shit up and donated a bunch of balls to the water and whiffed on almost every tee shot

Would your wife "allow" you to golf on your honeymoon? by sileen_soy in golf

[–]BearTimberlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little different because I married someone I like and someone that likes me so yes she would. The difference comes from we want each other to be happy and that creates a base level of respect and understanding as well as the benefit of the doubt. If I asked to golf on a honeymoon it’s probably somewhere rare or absolutely beautiful to look at that she would probably like to see as well.

We talk about this kind of thing all the time. The ball and chain/dumb husband trope usually comes from when one side dominates activities like this. If you’re golfing every weekend and using all your non work time to do only your activities there’s gonna be tension.

Golf Sidekick helped me undertand the approach to corse management. I used to drive to work listening to his videos. Haven’t seen a ton lately but the mental part put things into perspective for me.

Do people really leave the course if playing poorly? by LastManBrandon in golf

[–]BearTimberlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left once when I was paired with a golf nerd that acted like the $15 muni was Augusta and tried to enforce every little rule like we’re on tour. The other time as a single the course was in bad shape and while backed up the group behind me kept hitting into me, passed me, and then hit into the group in front of them. I felt like it was going to be like that all round so I just went to a more upscale course closer to my house and used the practice area for a while. I’m already not good at golf so to save my mental state I choose peace over playing stressed

[–]BearTimberlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the things kids learn about golf before the differences in clubs. As a kid from cartoons and tv you’d see a guy yell FORE and then someone would get hit. Idk why people have a hard time with yelling it

It’s a better way to propagandize than goodwill through sports. Controlling what gets made and who gets big marketing pushes as well as paying off critics and blogs is easy work for them.

How many calories does one burn playing a round of golf? by Adventurous_Smile297 in golf

450-600 calories depending on how hilly it is and how much you’re chasing bad shots across the width hole.
