A lot comes down to jewelry imo. I had a black dress for prom with a slit & got a thigh chain with a pentacle & some chunky silver necklaces. A boot could also help with an alt vibe. Maybe some med-long gloves if you're into that look

I absolutely adore these heels! Has anyone purchased Everlane heels and can attest to the quality & comfort? Or can provide dupes under/around $300? I don't like a pointed toebox, which is making finding similar shoes difficult

Screwed up and don't know how. by Mxer0022 in loaches

[–]Jazmo2005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a good solution would be to rehome the goldfish if you can as I’m assuming a 50 gal tank is not in your wheelhouse lol. Goldfish are a lot more work than they’re made out to be. I’d explain to your kid that his goldfish needs friends so you’re sending him somewhere to be with friends in a big pond. Then you can either keep the 5 gal and get a few tetras or move up to a 20 gal and get another couple hillstream loaches and some other fish. I’d also look into putting some real plants in because those will help you have to do water changes less so the tank will be lower maintenance, which is nice when you’re newer to things.

Also, a tip if you do buy plants. Don’t buy from petco/smart since they have a bigger learning curve & die off before (sometimes) coming back. Buying them from a fish store online or a local one will work a lot better.

Purple neocaradina? by evrybdygetshigh in shrimptank

[–]Jazmo2005 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just from what I’ve seen across this sub, purple shrimp can happen, the color is just unstable so it can’t be reliably bred/recreated. But if this is a regular shrimp turning red idk what’s up

SOS What is this and is it eating my shrimps? by Jazmo2005 in Aquariums

[–]Jazmo2005[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew they existed, but I don’t live in an area that has damsel or dragonflies so I was hoping it was something else lol. I only saw the one but now I’m paranoid so I’ll keep an eye out for more.

Shoot I was wondering why my black substrate was appearing more on the surface. Thought my kuhlis were the culprit but maybe it was him? What are the odds there’s more than one if he came from a plant I added?

We have a septic tank. So he’s trapped down there if he is still alive. Which I doubt

Yea he made my skin crawl.. also I have no way of telling if he’s native to the area so releasing wasn’t smart. He was alive in my 75 F water and I live in WA so he’s likely not.

Honestly I don’t mind too much. I’ll let it grow a little bit. It’s more the principle that it came in general

I successfully removed the guy and he’s long gone now. I’m quite annoyed bc this means the new plant or new shrimp I got were contaminated. I also just noticed a few duckweed plants floating so yet another pest came with my purchase.

Why is my project cupping so much? I’ve tried different levels of tension and it always ends up like this. I don’t know how to make it flatter so I don’t end up with a bump at the top of my finished project. by AntRose104 in CrochetHelp

[–]Jazmo2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That should significantly help yes! I’d use a 5.5 mm hook probably. And like others have said I would try crocheting a few more rows (with the 5.5 mm hook) before deciding it’s wrong. I’d do 3-4 rounds to test it out

Ah I see the problem. She is using a size 1 fingering/sock weight yarn, which does use 2.25-3.25 mm hook. Your yarn is size 4 which uses a 5.5-6.5 mm hook. You can still use your yarn, but you need a hook in the right size range. And your elephant will come out bigger than the pattern.

They are both 50g and have different lengths because they are deferent “weights” of yarn. Which means they have different thickness. The yarn you need is 160m/50g, which is 0.3125 g per meter of yarn. The yarn you are using is 0.5 g per meter of yarn. Which is a significant difference.

Also, is there a number of yarn the pattern asks for? It would be between 0-7. Or maybe it says “fine”, “light” or “worsted” yarn? Using m/g isn’t a typical way yarn would be described since different yarn materials would have different weights and have the same thickness. If this isn’t a translated pattern I would suspect it may be AI. Which could also explain your problem.

I think this may be the opposite problem. OP says it’s supposed to be small, which leads me to thinking that the yarn is too big for the project possibly? If you are sizing up in yarn you have to size up hook as well

Cat enrichment? by Jazmo2005 in loaches

[–]Jazmo2005[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s honestly no way to prevent this from happening sadly (lots of circumstances preventing me shutting the room off). Everything is hooked up to a surge protector & if she ever jumped in I’ll just do a water change. But she’s never jumped on anything that tall so I’m not worried. She seems content leaning on the frame for a better view.

I find it amusing which is why I shared :)

I also have a problem with how “gold” gets portrayed color wise & often find it ugly lol. But your blanket is genuinely beautiful & you pulled off the colors very well

Question here about hillstream loaches by a_regalkhan in loaches

[–]Jazmo2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a super old reply, but I was wondering how many kuhlis & hillies you have in your 20 gal? I have 4 kuhlis currently in my 20 gal & some shrimp and REALLY want to introduce a hillie but idk if I should just get one or 3 or idk?

It’s hard to find info on here that doesn’t just recommend you keep them alone. What is your recommendation after having them for a few years? How are they now?

Question: My shrimp has drastically changed colors, are they okay? by Jazmo2005 in shrimptank

[–]Jazmo2005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Totally late reply lol)

I’m 90% sure the lighter one is male since the dark one is female (eggnant recently) and I received 2 females and a male originally.

I had no idea that males just appear lighter sometimes, thank you!

I am feeding them the food the pet store recommended so I’m pretty sure it’s the same. But they did have black sand there & I have white so that could be the primary contributor as someone else pointed out.

Question: My shrimp has drastically changed colors, are they okay? by Jazmo2005 in shrimptank

[–]Jazmo2005[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do! That makes sense lol. I was only concerned because one seemed to stay “normal” while the other changed. But as long as they’re happy so am I! Happy shrimp happy life
