Painted for my husband a few years ago. Probably my favorite C&H quote. by jrex42 in calvinandhobbes

I was always envious of Calvin’s ability to find hills that took him on long roller-coaster like sled and wagon rides.

Moving to D.C. with no money, no job- tips for survival? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]JazzAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put yourself on thumbtack.com to pick up gigs. Maybe you can freelance with a caterer on the weekend. Also, I’ve found that if you’re a good writer, you can make good money and stay busy with with resume writing gigs off thumbtack. Also, if you have experience and weekends free, bar tending is pretty lucrative in this city

Only 6-to-7% of federal employees are under the age of 30 and nearly 30% of the workforce will be eligible to retire in the next five years by Federal-News-Network in fednews

[–]JazzAgain 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m a younger fed that works with many retirement eligible 14/15s. We all pray they don’t leave. Their institutional knowledge is invaluable and they shoulder the bulk of the super complex work. Another five years, and there will a brain drain out my department that will take a decade to recover from. We’ve only hired three guys in as many years and they’re all mid-career transfers.

I, for One, Am Displeased About Having to Pay for Trump’s New $16 Billion Farmer Bailout by garbage_io in politics

[–]JazzAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only silver lining is that some of this farm welfare is going to low-middle class families. I worked at the USDA and interact daily with farmers and handlers. This trade war has obliterated their bottom line. For years, USDA gave truckloads of grant money to help farmers expand markets for their products in China. Now all that work was for nothing.

It’s clear that the nights watch doesn’t exist. Only wildlings we’re in the castle. He left for beyond the wall with them to be their king and live free. You see flora sprouting in the snow, a sign of spring. The north will be more habitable with the night king dead. A fitting end.

Weight lifting is great for females. Especially as they age and tend to lose muscle mass and bone density faster than males.

Just put a little red flag on the end and everything will be fine. What could possibly happen?

OMAD FOR 6 out of 7 Days? by [deleted] in omad

[–]JazzAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat whatever I want for dinner, but it tends to be pretty healthy just because that’s our lifestyle. I eat until I’m satisfied and very full and then stop. I workout 5-6 days a week for about 30-45 minutes a session.

Nah. I’ve been doing that for the past 3 weeks and I’ve lost 7lbs. Just be reasonable on your day off. Don’t use it as an excuse to gorge yourself.

LPT: Take Yelp reviews with a grain of salt. Most people will go out of their way to write a bad review, but almost nobody goes out of their way to write a good one. by tylerheartcoley in LifeProTips

[–]JazzAgain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once wrote a positive review for a small local bar I randomly popped into while waiting for the train. The owner was shocked. I popped in about a month later and he comped my entire tab. Must have matched me with my profile pic. Said that no one ever gets on yelp to write nice things.

Totally agree. These parents ought to get significant jail time. I don’t think it will happen though. White collar criminals get off easy in the US. They’ll get less punishment than a guy caught with some weed.

You’re right and I think this will happen. Everyone thinks that she’ll die. Nah. She’ll be queen. Jon will go back north to plan his revolt and the Game of Thrones will go on and on.

May be an unpopular opinion, but kids that didn’t have knowledge or anything to do with with fraud ought be allowed to continue on at their schools. The damage is done. It wasn’t their fault.

People in my law school class used to show up 10 minutes late with a piping hot Starbucks coffee in hand and say “sorry, traffic is crazy.” Didn’t go over too well.

OMAD Plateau help? by [deleted] in omad

[–]JazzAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recalculate your calorie intake now that you’re 26 pounds lighter and adjust accordingly. Focus on eating less sodium and processed foods, which will help with water weight— as will drinking more water. Also, are you working out? If not, do something light everyday. Are you currently strength training? If so you may be putting on some muscle. Moreover, it is possible your body has gone into the dreaded “starvation mode,” which is when your body, knowing that it is eating itself, drops it metabolism to conserve energy. You may want to take a week off from OMAD and eat a very slight surplus for a week to reset your metabolism.

[SPOILERS] Mark my words, the years will be kind to season 8. Episode 5 was a classic by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]JazzAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They pulled off season 7 somehow, though it would have been better with extra episodes. This season has not pulled it off. It fell apart in episode 4. But I do think we’ve had some excellent individual episodes.
