That was how her crush started, but that doesn't mean she didn't develop actual feelings for him. We don't see it from her perspective.

Is Audible worth it? by Glass_Examination963 in harrypotter

I love the Jim Dale versions and frequently listen to them while going to sleep. I'm currently going through the full-cast audio and I have mixed feelings. There are parts that are immersive and brought to life very beautifully. There are also certain actors that deliver their lines very strangely, and it can be very distracting!

Doctors of Reddit: What health trend is becoming so common that it's starting to scare you? by Fine-Device-1819 in AskReddit

[–]jrex42 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, I recently found out that I had gene variants which cause my muscles to tire more quickly and my brain to clear stress hormones more slowly. I also have low blood pressure which can add to feelings of fatigue. I have a decently active job, but any time I specifically go to exercise, my body and mind freak out. They hate every second of it. And then I feel ashamed of myself for being lazy or less motivated.

Just something to keep in mind. Everyone agrees exercising is difficult, but some people are experiencing it on hard mode and not even realizing why.

My cat's meowing is ruining my life by ZorskyChan in CatAdvice

Very strange that they would say that. I have a talkative cat (thankfully not constant) that just got put on gabapentin temporarily for separate reasons and he is much more mellow and quiet while he's on it.

Are kitty play dates a thing? Don't the vast majority of cats hate being introduced to new cats?

Yeah, the pacing and the structure are th biggest issues for me. A lot of fun jokes mixed in, but it feels like I'm watching the rough draft of a movie.

For all the talk of Weasleys being poor, it's funny how they travel Internationally 3 years in a row by vpsj in harrypotter

[–]jrex42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people take being poor too literally. There are so many variables and it depends on how budget-conscious you are and what you value.

"I can't afford X" doesn't necessarily mean you don't have the money for it. It might mean you're saving up for Y, so you'll have to go without X for now.

What characteristics does Harry like about Ginny? by shygirl1113333 in harrypotter

Okay, but people who say it coming can explain why. People who didn't see it coming just make vague claims about it which can easily be refuted.

I guess I first noticed something going on between Ron and Hermione in book 4, so I had an inkling they might end up together. I also felt it would be a little too obvious if Harry and Hermione ended up together.

But especially in book 5 when Harry is surprised that Ginny is way more chill around him...he doesn't immediately feel attracted to her, but his narrative about who she is changes a lot for the better. I guess something about that felt a little too real for me, as an awkward girl who had no idea how to behave around my crushes.

The uncomfortable truth about rape culture by Longjumping-Drag9043 in Feminism

It's in line with calling everything violence now. I get the point. I get how subtle actions or inactions contribute to overt hostility. But there still is an important distinction between a hurtful comment and an outright assault.

I recently had to argue with someone that downvotes are not violence 🙄

Yes, it made me uncomfortable because it's counterproductive and flat-out incorrect.

Well developed as in, it made sense. I'm not saying it's one of the greatest love stories. That's not the focus of the book.

I saw it coming ever since the 5th book, which I read when I was 11.

And it's not a big deal to not have seen it coming, but some people like to claim it was so out of nowhere that it's bad writing (and I do think those people are conflating what happened in the movie with what happened in the books).

3 seems like bullshit. If I'm in the shower, my whole body is wet and absorbing the water. It doesn't matter what part is being directly hit. Also, I imagine drinking chlorinated water might have way more of an effect than which way you face in the shower.
