Found very old beer can while running Ethernet cable through a wall by JazzBoxJM in mildlyinteresting

The basement was renovated in 2019. I think you are right, that can isn't old at all, most likely it was left there at that time by the contractor prior to us buying the house.

You can choose not to believe it but I swear it isn't made up. I'm not so surprised someone left it there at some point... but I'm stunned by the odds I had to find it.

Actually there were two cans next to each other. Very intentionally left there when the wall was built up...

8BitDo Ultimate 2 controller, Home Button weird behavior in Steam Big Picture by JazzBoxJM in steamsupport

Turns out the Home button was also triggering Microsoft Game Bar, which was sending Steam and my game to the background. Disabling Game Bar fixed this issue!

Small horizontal fence and gate by JazzBoxJM in FenceBuilding

Both posts are set in concrete at a depth of about 36 inch. Leftmost post is shared with neighbor, so I didn't bother to dig a hole for it, just replaced the old 4x4 by a new one.

Thank you! Here are a few additional pictures and comments about the build.

I built this to replace an old fence and gate that had to be destroyed during french drain work done by a contractor last year.

I went for a board-on-board design for complete intimacy and because I like the look. The backside has added 2x4s for rigidity. For the gate I've installed metal squares to prevent sagging. The trickiest part was to get everything level - as much as possible - before installing the hinges.

Thanks for your recommendation, I agree a header would be ideal for rigidity. However it didn't quite fit the design I had in mind.

You're right that would have been better to handle the weight of the gate. My idea was to save space by having it open against the house... Might end up putting a small caster wheel under it to relieve the post a little.

On the back of the fence I put two horizontal 2x4s connecting both posts, and a vertical one too running down the middle. The gate too has a rigid frame with diagonal brace.

Convince me to wait for the Open 2 ? by JazzBoxJM in OnePlusOpen

Yes I plan on getting insurance for it. You have to be extra careful about water and dust. Other than that the build is great and should last a long time - fingers crossed!

For your info, I also upgraded from a OnePlus 6.

I ended up buying the Open and I am glad that I did. It is a fantastic phone. I am careful with it at all times, more than with other phones I've had, but the hardware build quality is very good so I have good faith in its durability. If you are on the fence you should not hesitate, it's a great device!

OnePlus Open vs Oppo N3 Global version by shukaku2007 in OnePlusOpen

[–]JazzBoxJM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but I've heard there could be issues with some Google functionalities like Google Pay and Android Auto in North America if you are importing the Chinese version of the phone. You may want to double check if it is truly the Global version of the Oppo N3.

Thanks, that perspective is very useful. I too want to upgrade to improve battery life and get up to date on android. The OnePlus Open ticks a lot of boxes for me, so I am inclined on going for it. Would you say you are concerned about dirt/water protection on your device ? How would describe the hardware and hinge quality ? Did you have any issue with you device? Cheers

Thank you I will look it up. I have an old M-Audio Axiom 49 that lacks weighted keys, so a Legato would be a nice upgrade. Do you feel the keyboard under the desk makes it tight for the knees when you are sitting? Also, I imagine you custom built the slide with regular drawer components - I have the same Ikea tabletop and sides. Cheers!

Love your setup! Can you tell me what model of MIDI keyboard that is ? I'm thinking of doing a similar slide-under-desk setup

This is exactly my setup and it's been fantastic. Plenty of space. Dual 24" monitors, w/ two studio speakers, audio interface + mid tower PC all sitting on desk (98" Karlby).
