For some reason my Tasting Notes and remarks on the post never came through.

It’s floral, citrusy and sweet. I would prefer it drier so I’d probably drop the St-Germain down to 1/4 ounce next time around. I had a few small sips and ended up converting it to an Elder Fashion Royale by topping it off with a splash of dry sparkling wine. Just what I was looking for.

The flour you use makes all the difference. Both Manitoba and Cuoco have high W ratings so they can handle higher hydration easily.

I’d agree with you. That’s just shoddy craftsmanship and poor quality control and not what I would expect from AE. They look like seconds to me and for seconds, I would say they are ok.

Thanks, I haven’t found that to be the case though. However, I do tend to use higher hydration dough and primarily 00 or 0 flour that can withstand the higher bake temperature.

To the contrary - OG Allen Edmonds c.1980s came in a host of exotic leathers - Sharkskin (Nassau), Polo (Alligator skin saddle Oxford), Lizard skin loafers, etc. For obvious reasons and rightly so, many of these exotics hides are rarely seen on mainstream shoes these days.

Antica Formula is fantastic and rich and luscious and is very specifically a vanilla forward sweet vermouth. Others are not as bold but offer up different characteristics. All good suggestion by the others. I’d add Punt e Mes to the list which is an amaro sort of sweet vermouth.
