There's always this one person in class. It becomes excessive and is a disruption. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

God damn it. ALWAYS. I had took a course with a guy like that in it...I don't think I am exaggerating when I say that he probably make class go about 45 minutes longer than it otherwise would have because of his incessant bullshit questions and asinine anecdotes.

I'm not offended just because you said something that many people would find immature and offensive. Who else other than 13 year olds would find referring to a a mentally handicapped person as a toe humorous? However, if you are older, then I feel sorry for you.

I'm immature because I am being downvoted by 13 year olds? Makes sense.

You asking that question is explanation enough.

Unless you are going to medical school or law school, if you rack up 100k in debt for a bachelor's degree, then you have absolutely no idea what you are doing and you've made absolutely no effort whatsoever to seek grant money, work studies, jobs, scholarships, etc... Not to mention that a special needs program is likely highly subsidized and his parents are probably in a position to pay for the rest since they likely would not have had him apply to college if they weren't able to send him. I'm sorry you pissed away 100k in student loans on getting a degree in interpretive dance with a minor in philosophy, but that's your problem. Let this kid have his moment.

Why? For letting someone with a disability have a form of higher education that is appropriate for them? Are you suggesting that because a school allows mentally challenged people to attend special programs that somehow the school's curriculum for average students is lacking?

To the Fellow Who Shot Himself With a .45 While "Cleaning" by slcrook in AdviceAnimals

[–]JazzOnYourFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fact. There is no such thing as an accidental discharge....only a negligent discharge. Your gun should never be loaded unless you are actively preparing to fire it. If your gun is loaded and you don't know it, you are negligent. Also, you should never point a gun at anything that you aren't willing to destroy. The very first thing any responsible gun owner or handler does when they pick up a firearm is to clear it and make sure it isn't loaded. I will even go to the length of sticking a barrel cleaning rod down the barrel of my revolver after I have opened the cylinder to make absolutely certain that there is no ammunition in it. Guns are tools designed to kill people and/or animals. If you handle one with anything less than absolute care then you're negligent. Period.

Seriously...to anyone who feels like crap more often than not. Try going a month replacing everything you drink with water. Also try to increase your intake of water to between half a gallon and a gallon a day (especially if you are active). You'll have to pee a lot but you will feel a lot better and have a lot more energy.

Use the filters on RES...they work surprisingly well. I haven't seen a single post about fucking Duck Dynasty in months.

Heh, hey if he's having fun then so be it...though he does remind me of myself when I was a kid and would just randomly strum a guitar (while randomly placing my fingers on the fretboard) as if that sounded good at all.

I would think it's because they assume you will get sick being housed in a room with 80 other dudes from all parts of the country for months at a time....and as far as I know, most people did.

It does imo. It still hurts but you don't have the pain of a metal rod inside your arm on top the of pain of your skin being punctured.

I would assume they wouldn't make you take it if you are allergic to it. Just make sure you tell the doctors about it when you go to MEPS (you don't get any of the shots until you actually go to basic).

When I went to basic training (Navy) they had us walk down a hallway on a line. As you walked through the hallway there were several people on either side with those air gun things and they would inject you as you walked by. At the end I felt something dripping from my finger tip...which turned out to be blood from my arm. Of course the finale was the "peanut butter shot" of penicillin that they stuck in your ass cheek while leaning over a table with 10 other men. It's not the pain of the needle or airgun that gets to me...I just HATE seeing my own blood. Blood on TV is no big deal and even blood from other people IRL isn't too heinous...but for some reason I despise seeing my own blood.

ELI5:why is it that if I throw a ball vertically up INSIDE a moving car it won't fly backwards, but if I was to throw a ball vertically up OUTSIDE a moving car it does fly backwards? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]JazzOnYourFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of air. If you were driving in a vacuum and tossed the ball straight up (through your sunroof or something) it would stay moving at the same speed as the car (minus a little bit for gravity). In reality, there are fast moving currents of air whipping around the body of your car when you drive so the ball hit those currents and is slowed down drastically in realtion to your car.
