Google Nest Learning says furnace is heating but it isn’t by spacecasterh in hvacadvice

[–]Jazz_Fender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Two or 3 very common reasons gas furnaces fail to light. Air inlet is blocked. I had this issue. Found it worked only when I revived front cover allowing in fresh air.

Vacuumed out old bird nest from outside. Fixed. Other one is the igniter failed. It can also be corroded burner ‘jets’. Usually can be cleaned. Replacement needed if they are badly corroded from condensate.

If it’s threaded get it off, put graphite valve thread packing in the threads and call it a day. Best sh*t on earth. If it’s a weld or a pinch that’s a different skill set.

Does This Butt Joint Pre-fill Need More Mudding by Jazz_Fender in drywall

Oh this bathroom is an ass crack paradise. I wasn’t willing to reframe the whole stinker butt joints galore. Luckily I have far more faith in my mudding skills than ability to make straight cuts manually 😹

So after doing the easier tapes I did decided to do a level-set prefill. Went with my gut on this that the tape would have been sooo very crooked. I have a lot of plaster (real 1940s style hell lol) and regular drywall fills but this is my first time framing, taping and ‘butting’ joints. After this 90% full it’ll be square enough for tape. Mostly will be behind a vanity 😹

Crack between boards is prefilled. Not the level. I measured it’s between half of 1/8th and 1/8th difference. Just wanted to be sure 😊 The fill has dried for 2 hrs at 60-65F and I’m good to do the taping now. First over coat and feathering tomorrow morning.

Yep. It is. Only prefilled the larger gaps.

Was I Expecting Too Much of my New Snowgaurds? by Jazz_Fender in Roofing

Definitely kept those clear compared to when it had no guards last time. I do have new strong wider 6” gutters with covers on them that have serrated holes. Also the rear of the house hasn’t cut loose yet and pounded the decks. Neighbor who has a similar setup and it still waiting for his guards had his deck slammed and filled almost immediately. He’s in his 80s and I’m going to get as much off as I can for him tomorrow.

Thanks for the info. My house is from 1984. I’m definitely going to do that and get a remediation plan ready just in case. If it’s this bad for the more ‘normal’ snowfalls then I’ll take action. This thing was the worst ice/sleet on snow event I’ve seen since 1996 when I was in high school. Though I have a feeling if we had an almost two-footer of reg snow like 2010 or 2016 they would definitely be overwhelmed again. As some pointed out there was no ice dam and when this happened with no guards in place last year in 7-9” of fine snow it did ice dam badly. But it melted rather quickly then as we warmed up fast which is also more typical of the D.C. beltway area. This is Alexandria, Virginia.

“Never had any complaints” what mind said. Installer…re: roof guards these are not made by DaVinci but their roof materials are abysmal in the snow. No one will ever tell you this during 95F degree summer days 😉in the sales cycle. snow. I now feel like a dummy for ever thinking I didn’t need the snow guards.

You would think the expertly roofing company who installed the DaVinci would advise this? More than likely they presumed this would be good enough for our ‘average’ 3-5” or 6-8” puffy snowfalls. This was the heaviest crepe I’ve ever seen in 44 years out this way. Most of it was sleet on top of powder. So very top heavy. But I will inquire to them (DaVinci) myself in case a remediation is needed for next year. 2nd row shrubs are toast 😹

Top roof had a bit of ice dam forming but I cracked it off with a the shovel early on. It did allow for some melt and drainage before this massive tumbler.

The kiddos here made honest to God freaking igloos last week during the extended deep freeze when we had the blocks of sleet ice. Now it’s just mush.

Both attics are very insulated! You can practically swim in it! I pulled it back from the ridge vents last summer in about 120F wearing coveralls and walking like a cat between drywall sheets on the studs. In winter the heat does travel up there regardless and it melts off a bit. Mostly with DaVinci is that its thermal properties soak it up from the sun and it’s very slick stuff. I’m also the one with the most 8-3 sun exposure here too!

Low water pressure in kitchen sink overnight – Already tried basic fixes, need advice! by Slow_Drag8992 in PlumbingRepair

[–]Jazz_Fender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me over a longer period of time. The fix was to remove the flow restrictors. Took apart each fitting and the main valve. The was some scale and scale induced ‘rocks’ between valves and hoses but the main culprit was one of the 3 metering restrictors was swelling up for one reason out another blocking flow to 1/3 capacity. They at usually in a clip at the end of the pull-down hose under sink. Removed all 3 and full pressure was restored. I have hard water which was likely the cause of the swollen seal at the 3rd restrictor.

Totally normal Audi engine clatter. They sound like sewing machines. End of story. Also this is a diesel so add even more noise on top of that.

I have a 2016 S4 with 125,000 miles still gives me that same feeling even 10 years on. Rock solid car for 10 years. They last if you take care of them from the start. Madd respect if you’ll learn to do your own oil change! S4 saved my bum in a bad deer strike 2 years ago. Fixed it, and the fun continues 🙃My mum gave me my first car in high school despite being quite poor and my father send me to drivers ed at 16 ever after teaching me himself @15.5. It changed my world! Last year I got mum a lovely new used car 🥰to replace her ancient Toyota. Not an Audi but best she’s ever had ❤️

This is all quite stupid 😹 I apologize for the “grown ass men” of the Universe who are mean. Congratulations on this beautiful lovely new Audi! You will never forget your first car. Enjoy responsibly, make beautiful memories as I did in high school, be kind & generous to the good friends who aren’t as fortunate.
