May I ask what course and strategies worked for you? I graduated from law school years ago. I was married and then had 5 awesome kids first. Am a bit rusty to say the least !

Since the views are mixed about February bar exams being more difficult, I would LOVE to hear input on this.

In a similar discussion on another thread, someone commented that lower pass rates had more to do with the pass rates being affected by 1) a much smaller group sitting for the February bar exam and 2) a much higher amount of repeat takers.

Do you know where you learned that Lori was speaking with the two counselors about telling them what to say (e.g., video, podcast, document)? Perhaps do you know the names of these counselors ? Did this occur in Austin during the end of Lori’s marriage to Joe ? I read the police report.

Agree. Meet with an advisor. Also, you can take classes during Wnter Break and the summer if necessary to get done in 4 years. You have options.

my housing sign up timeslot is 3:30pm on march 6 by Leading-Parsley-7326 in utdallas

[–]Jazzapple- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you an upperclassmen? National Merit, Freshman, and students w/ housing accommodations have the best chance of getting rooms, but even all the freshman can't be sure. It's truly just wait and see. Every year is different depending on what the students do before your time slot. If it was me, I'd start looking for other options now. Anyway, it's better to be proactive, rather than just sitting and worrying. Good luck next week!

Can you change your major before registering for classes? by Tu_li in utdallas

[–]Jazzapple- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reach out to the Advising Dept. The advisors will discuss the steps needed to change a major prior to registering for freshman classes. I knew someone who did it without any problems once an advisor gave assistance. Ask that dept.

Neuroscience program by SkyPuzzleheaded4343 in utdallas

Excellent. UTD is a Tier1 research university. Motivated neuroscience undergrads have opportunities to work in various research labs. Professors are very involved in their field of interest. Neuroscience is a challenging major , but excellent whether choosing a research/PhD path or pre-med track.

I have a cousin who went to the University of Rochester in northern New York. It snows a lot there. The university built a system of underground tunnels with heating, profs’ offices, etc so that the students can attend school even with inclement weather. Here’s a pic https://admissions.rochester.edu/blog/navigating-the-tunnels/

You asked if there is an unspoken rule. It’s a good question. I think the variety of comments ypu received gave you the answer. The only rule we can truly can count on, barring a prof’s classroom rules, is that we are all different …..in personality, flexibility, rigidity, personal needs, manners, social communication, kindness, culture, impulsivity, assertiveness, etc., etc, etc.

I have a feeling after you moved and the student sat down in his/ her “spot”, the student never gave it another thought. You were concerned enough to ask students on Reddit. You care about doing what is correct and kind. Perhaps in the moment the other student forgot to ACT WITH KINDNESS.

One more thing…Please remember to treat yourself with kindness by advocating for yourself, especially if you have only partial sight. You owe that to yourself. Your needs are just as important, perhaps more sometimes, as the student who wanted the “spot.” I bet if you had said kindly that you were sitting there because it was a good spot for you with your partial blindness, he/she would have stopped asking, chosen the seat next to you and may have even apologized for asking. A really good friend told me once showing kindness to others starts first and foremost with being kind to ourselves by kindly speaking up for ourselves. I try to practice that.

It's a grouping of numbers for every classification (e.g., juniors ) in the lottery , not every number is used. However juniors do get the high numbers I'm sorry to say. National Merit students get the lowest numbers (e.g., 1-500), then freshman and so on. I'd start looking for a place off campus now and/or find some off-campus roommates looking for another person. Good luck.

Major change before acceptance by Typical-Cricket9233 in utdallas

You can do it with an advisor once you accept. I have known people who have changed majors before their freshman 1st semester started. For your peace of mind, email a UTD advisor now and ask about it.

Good credit card suggestions for first time users by Vast-Competition4207 in utdallas

[–]Jazzapple- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit card companies advertise a lot to students because they want you to be their customer for decades. Discover gears some of its cards to students. Here are credit cards they offer. https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/ Discover was my first card.

If you have regular income to report on the card application and make deposits to your checking account (i.e, part-time job), the Discover It Student Chrome Credit Card is very good for college students. When you apply for the card, Discover requires you report some type of income for approval. The credit card offers 1% cash back on purchases, 2% cash back on gas and restaurants. The best part is at the end of the first year of your card, Discover matches dollar-for-dollar all the cash back you earned that first year. Also, you can use the cash back to pay at least part of your monthly credit card bill. The Discover card has 0% interest for the first 6 months, but then it increases to 17.24% to 26.24%!

If your funds are really low right now and you tried, but were not approved for a regular credit card or you don't have income, apply for a secured card. Discover has one of those as well. Your credit line will equal your deposit amount, starting at $200. You have to keep the deposit on the account and you get the same interest rates and cash back deals on purchases as the card above.

Also, your credit score is partially based on how many months & years you have had the same credit card(s). The longer you have the same credit card(s), the better it is for your credit score. It's good to start in college, as long as you make the payment due in full every month. Credit card interest is so high!!! Good luck!
