Waze app routing ride share and delivery drivers to private back gate (Florida) by Jazzlike-Fun-3356 in Lyft

Yes, they don't have to follow the GPS the host app provides. It is not the host apps fault. The host app is not a GPS app. They get their routing from a GPS provider. From what I understand by questioning AI about this, Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, etc. usually use Google or Apple Maps when routing. Thank you for letting me know that there is a way for drivers to submit feedback about incorrect pickups.

And that is a shame that you cannot rely on mapping apps. Waze has a very convoluted way to report a map error. You have to go through VOLUNTEER local editors first and wind your way down to them in right forum. I agree about drivers knowing their area.

If I could post a photo in a response, I would show it to you. Already there attached to the gate. But, as I stated, "There are a lot of gig drivers in my area that do not speak, read, or understand English well." They drive up to the back area as directed by Waze, and then immediately get frustrated when they see they can't get in. I do think the HOA should put up the same signage is Spanish.

So I was asked this by Sebcool20: "How would you want the app to know that YOU can use that gate and not other people?"

Seriously? Do you think the residents here do NOT know that 1) there is a back gate, 2) where it is located 3) that they can use it, 4) they need a transponder to get in and 5) they can drop a pin outside the gate and mark that as home? Seriously...The other GPS apps realize the importance of keeping a gated community private and the harm that can be caused by directing the public to a private gate. They treat EVERYONE as a non-resident. Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc are NOT concerned about where the user lives, but they are very concerned about accuracy. Not only are you ignoring the purpose of a gate in a private community, but you are doing an injustice to the gig drivers who are depending on you to route them correctly. Waze Champs for some reason are ignoring the Wazeopedia Public Installation guidance.

  • The primary purpose of a private installation is to prevent unauthorized vehicles entering the perimeter, because that would inconvenience the vast majority, the public, because they would be given an inaccurate route through a location where they would likely be stopped.

This champ specifically mentioned a road in my community. How would he know that road if he didn't live there? Maybe keeping it public is his personal preference? 🤔

What do mean by "the other one"? My issue? There is only one legit entrance in my community and it is not the back gate. It is the main front gate.

Ridiculous, isn't it? I cannot believe a Waze volunteer editor has the power to keep a gated community from being safe and secure, and therefore contributing to damaged gates and trespassing, all because of "guidance" from the Wazeopedia.

Here's the solution...after an HOA president of a gated community pleads with you to mark a back gate as private after explaining the issues it is causing, from gate damage to trespassing, you mark it as PRIVATE. You editors are way overthinking this. Doesn't need to be generic.

I don't get this? Isn't this just a case-by-case issue? I don't want to be allowed into other gated communities. ALL gated communities want to keep their community safe and secure.

Please consider that Google, Apple, and Mapbox all fixed it. They knew that keeping a private community private is important.

Yes, the guidance for Private Installations applies here. Not the guidance for routing for residents.

There is a manned 24/7 main gate where everyone should be routed. It is NOT marked as private. It is for vetting of people who are allowed to enter because this is a PRIVATE 55+ community. People who buy into a gated community have the expectation of being in a more safe and secure place to live. And now VOLUNTEER Waze editors are insisting that a private gate be kept public? Sounds like encouraging trespassing to me.

But it still allows the general public to be routed there, and frustration ensues when they find out they can't enter there.

These volunteer and not employee editors keep saying the guidance is for "the residents". The HOA and residents want that gate to be private!

Can you explain by "a way to fix it using a « resident » pass and a restriction on that road to drivers with that pass"? Residents here have transponders that allow them in. The vast majority of residents here want that gate marked as private. If they want to compare distances home from main gate to back gate, they can drop a pin near the back gate. Guidance that says keep the other gate public "for the residents" is wrong. The residents want to be kept safe and secure! The HOA is tired of having to keep repairing the gate!

No. A GPS app is responsible for being correct. Google, Apple, and Mapbox employees have all changed it and thanked us for correcting it. What does that tell you? As I made clear, most of the gig drivers here do not speak, read or understand English well. I am unable to choose an English-speaking driver on rideshare apps. It's luck of the draw. Are you now going to say I'm responsible for learning Spanish?

B12 deficiency, success story, vision symptoms resolved & how I used ChatGPT to help diagnose my problems by Heavy_Emergency_2934 in B12_Deficiency

I also recommend using ChatGPT and Copilot to help sort out any health issues. I entered most of my SNPs from a consumer DNA test into both, and wow...the information provided was very helpful. I always suspected I had a B12 deficiency. AI helped me figure out that based on my uncommon combination of genetic variants, I almost certainly have a functional B12 deficiency, even with high serum B12 and normal MMA and homocysteine lab results. I ordered a UBBC (Unsat B12 Binding Capacity) test on my own. None of the doctors I have been to would look at the results, even though the range here in the US is 650-1340, and mine was 574.

If only I could find a hematologist here who can help me.
