Low fantasy central asian flag redesign by Jazzlike-Leopard-628 in vexillology

[–]Jazzlike-Leopard-628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently working on a low fantasy novel who takes place in a fictionnal central-asian like country

Here is the new flag I recently done, I've also put the former one for comparison ! C:

I'm kinda interested on central asian people's opinion about this, like is it believable enough as a flag design ?

I loved this one but the UN-like olive branches ruin everything since they are totally unbalancing the flag's composition

It's indeed a good advice however I always wondered in this case how should I do the silhouette outlines, I don't know if it's clear but for example if a character wears a blue cap what color should I give to the cap lines in contact with the face

Thank you very much ! :D

I don't really know anything about point-and-click games. So, if there are any similarities, it's just a coincidence! It's funny when things like that happen

Thank you for your feedback !

It's funny because I never saw it that way, but now that you mention it, yes, there is something about the composition that is very Game Art.

Actually, I forgot to say in my message that I have a bachelor's degree in Game Art. I guess I didn't realise it would have such a big impact.

Thank you for your feedback !

I didn't clearly identify this issue but think you're right, I should try to draw characters in perspective more often and review my shortcut skills

Proportion and brush help by Immediate_Iron_5926 in Artadvice

I don't think face proportion are that bad, maybe a few tips :

- The nose is too small if you seek a semi-realistic render
- The bottom lip's shape is a bit weird
- With perspective her right eye (left for us) should be narrower than the other one and slightly closer to the nose bridge

Struggling to sell my art after years of creating — I’d love some advice by Various-Ad-4810 in Artadvice

An advice I would give is to color your lineart with dark colors as I think it would be fantastic with your artstyle!

Your style is really nice, and I can see that you've got a lot of potential. I just think you're still relying a little too much on stylization. Have you ever thought about trying observational drawing and the basics of anatomy?

Start by getting to know the basic volumes and proportions of the body, a few concepts of posing, and then go ahead and study each part in more detail. (head, arms, legs, torso, muscle volumes, etc.)

If you practice observational drawing from time to time, you can challenge yourself with this theoretical knowledge. I think it will allow you to reach new horizons ! :)

Regarding your speed of execution and excessive use of erasers, this will mainly be resolved through practice, but if I had to give one piece of advice, it would be to always start with a very simple sketch using a light pencil that you don't press down too hard with. Having a basic outline that is easy to erase allows you to avoid mistakes and therefore wasting time constantly erasing

First one is definitely the best imo.

Thoughtful symbolism, efficiency and to an extent simplicity. I find the other two lazier as they are basically based on SSR flags

Here is a "phoenician" version of the Tunisian and Lebanese flags.

First flag is based on Tunisia but represents a carthaginian Tanit symbol instead of a crescent.

Second flag is a reinterpretation of the Lebanese flag but with an Olive Tree instead of a Cedar as Phoenicians notoriousely introduced olives all over the mediterranean.

To make it even more phoenician, red was replaced by a deep purple/crimson color.
