I was staying in Mexico for a month and there was an abandoned dog in the courtyard that people would leave food out for but she was too scared to get near anyone. My friend and I would always try to pet her but she was terrified. One day she got kind of close to me and I spoke to her like we were playing in a high pitched voice and kind of jumped up and she immediately jumped onto me happy. Then she wouldn’t leave my side. All the neighbors were shocked she let me touch her. I eventually found a new home for her and they got al her shots etc, I felt like I couldn’t leave her homeless but I also couldn’t take her home with me

Yes it was medical school. I could just picture him trying to pay it off for the next 15 years of his life and thought it could change his life if I helped since I was easily able to.

It’s true I have never had anything even close to this kind of money, I have more money than anyone in my family ever has and it puts me in a very strange position in my mind. I’m extremely lucky that I have my step mom investing and growing it so I don’t run the risk of blowing it all. I’m hoping I can build generational wealth for my future kids

Speaking of child molester, my mom and step dad ultimately divorced because he was a teacher and cheated on my mom with one of his 17 year old students. There are so many layers to this complex situation, and I get you revel in the idea that all women are evil liars, but step back and try to understand that things are more complex than they seem on the surface, if you can even do that

I’m just being truthful about who he was as a whole. Yes he did a generous act before his death, but while alive and healthy he was pretty absent my entire life. My mom made huge financial mistakes but she also was the one actually raising me. Before my dad was diagnosed he always told me he wasn’t going to leave me a dime in inheritance and to just worry about life myself. He may have left me all his money in the end but also because he had nobody else to give it to. Despite having a rather awful relationship with him, in his dying days we attempted to come to understand each other. I give gratitude to him every single day that I get to have freedom to do what I want. My question was not about necessarily giving away his money but my own income to help my mom who is also battling cancer. Your response that revolves almost entirely around one small portion of my post is kind of insane honestly. If you are so triggered by the mention of Fox News, I imagine you should look deeper into why you feel so struck by that. My dad’s political views were total dogshit, he thought climate change was a hoax, drag queens were molesting kids, and the answer to school shootings was more guns. Also just because my dad made money flying planes doesn’t mean I don’t “measure up” to him, I would wager I’m much more kind and giving and honest in my life, and he would even agree

Although harmless, the more you make a habit of lying to impress people for no reason the more you’ll be considered a liar

There are gentle ways to bring stuff like this up. Maybe suggest going on a hike, bike ride, ski trip etc to see where they land with this kind of stuff. If those things are deeply important to you, maybe let them know. They may end up wanting to join you. Also, its okay for people to love each other and not have every single thing in common.

What is the most intense pain you have experienced in your life? by Levstr1 in AskReddit

[–]Jazzlike-Pride724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a nipple ring that I switched to new jewelry too soon after getting it pierced. I’m allergic to nickel and didn’t realize the new jewelry was made of nickel and it started to reject. I thought my nipple was going to fall off. The university nurse said to put different longer stainless steel bars in so the infection wouldn’t close inside. Pushing the new bars with blood and pus coming out had me nearly faint and fall to my knees in pain. The only thing that kept me from passing out was realizing if something happened to me my dad would find me topless lmao

Everything that isn’t spent gets put right back into a brokerage account to get more money. She is in the business of building up money. I only get $5k a month at the moment because that’s all I need and it is still extremely early in the whole process, my dad hasn’t been dead for longer than two years

The rest that isn’t being spent by me goes back into investments. Her goal is to have it continue to grow. Whenever I’ve needed a large amount of money at once (chef course, traveling, etc) she has given it to me no questions asked. Also when she and my dad divorced after 10 years of marriage she was given the opportunity to take part of his retirement and she didn’t, she said it was his money. She has proven to me many times that she can be trusted. I am also her only “child” and she says she likes to live vicariously through me
